‘Dancing with the Stars’ Results Show: Julianne Hough Comes Home; Chynna Goes Home

No time was a wasted during the “Dancing with the Stars” results on Tuesday night (October 11). They didn’t get a chance to have an encore dance this week. The musical guests on the show each sang or danced to a song from a movie to tie in with the movie score week theme. First up was Raphael Saadiq who sang “Soul Man”, the signature song from “The Blues Brothers” film. Now the first results featured the top three scorers of the night. Ricki and J.R. were no doubt safe, but Rob Kardashian remained in jeopardy.

Moving right along with movie score songs Brooke Burke introduced the next musical guest, Susan Boyle, with her rendition of the song from “Ghost”, “Enchanted Melody.” Either she still cannot read cue cards or something went wrong with the teleprompter or she thought “Unchained Melody” was actually called that. She’s been co-hosting for two years and still sounds amateurish. I wasn’t at all keen on Boyle’s version of this beautiful song.

Another set of celebrities were awaiting their fates: Carson, Chaz and Chynna. The crowd went wild when Carson, and especially Chaz, were called out as safe. Not at all surprising was Chynna and her partner, Tony, who were in jeopardy. At long last it was time to welcome back Julianne Hough, a former pro dancer and two-time DWTS champion. For this time she returned to the dance floor after a two and a half year hiatus . Julianne danced a number from her upcoming film “Footloose” with lead actor, Kenny Wormald.

In a bold move without missing a beat the rest of the supporting dancers of “Footloose”, along with Julianne and her co-star, danced to the title song. Blake Shelton performed his version as they all took turns on the floor. When it was over Julianne told Tom Bergeron she was very emotional in being back and it showed.

We were treated to one more special dance from the movies featuring Julianne and her brother, Derek Hough. They danced to “Shake a Tail Feather” from the original 1988 version of “Hairspray” starring Derek’s celeb partner, Ricki Lake. They showed Ricki afterwards as I’m sure the film brought back wonderful memories for her.

The last group of celebrities were about to learn their fates. Hope and David were safe another week, but Nancy Grace was in jeopardy. Luckily for Nancy she was later told she’ll be returning. Unfortunately for Chynna Phillips the horrific mistakes she made Monday night, which were very obvious, sent her packing. It was indeed a shocking elimination, but not really all that surprising at the end of the day. Next week the Top 8 will be dancing to music of the 80s. Can’t wait to see what Carson Kressley will be wearing?
