Treatment for Talking in Our Sleep Known As Somniloquy

Somniloquy treatments

Usually somniloquy is harmless and does not require any treatment; but if it is frequent enough to keep your bed mate or other house members up at night they might want you to see a sleep specialist.

Sleep diary

Your doctor might ask you to create a sleep diary for several weeks noting the time you go to bed, fall asleep, and wake up each morning. The diary might include lifestyle choices, such as how much exercise you get in during the day, what you eat, how much caffeine you drink and what medications both prescribed and over the counter drugs you are taking.

If an additional sleep disorder is suspected, your doctor may want you to spend a night in a sleep disorder lab, where they will connect you to different sleep monitors to try to figure out what is going on.

The odd time medication will be prescribed for somniloquy. More often than not, it is caused by taking certain medications. Those medications are changed if there is a viable alternate medication available.
