Christmas Tree Ornaments to Make

Why not make some of your own Christmas ornaments this year? Gather the family together and think up ways you can take advantage of objects around the house. Old buttons, beads and fabric swatches can be used to make some very interesting ornaments. Get out the scissors, glue, paint, crayons and marking pens and start playing..

Light Bulbs

Recycle your burned out light bulbs and make some Christmas ornaments for your tree. Paint the bulb with acrylic paint in holiday colors. Allow the paint to dry before adding your next coat of paint or decorations. Dip a sponge in different color paints for texture or paint a snowman, candy cane and Santa Claus on each different bulb. Tie several thin raffia strands or ribbon around the top of the bulb to hang it on the tree. Paint several bulbs in different colors and put them in a bowl for a centerpiece; repaint the bulb colors every season.

Paper Ornaments

Cut out different shapes of red and green construction paper. Let the kids paint or use a water soluble marker to decorate. Glue on beads, buttons and bits of fabric. Punch a hole at the top and put a ribbon length through the hole and make a bow. Hang stars, circles, santa clauses, and bells that have been cut. This is a very inexpensive and decorative ornament. And everyone will have fun sharing their own creativity.
