Cho Dang Tofu Review

Cho Dang Tofu is located in Torrance, CA. It’s a little restaurant in the plaza with Gable House Bowl. Could be a great place to eat after a long day of bowling. It has a great parking lot with lots of spaces. I’ve never been when I couldn’t find a spot. Anyway, I love soondubu and eat it at least twice a month. My friend took me to Cho Dang Tofu a few years ago for the first time and, after that, I was hooked.

The Service —
The service isn’t so great. The waitresses aren’t very attentive. They usually don’t refill your water or side dishes unless you ask them too. One thing I’ll say about them though is that they come around really quick to take your order which is good because I always know what I want. The food comes out very quickly and the check comes even quicker. You could see this as a good thing or a bad thing. Personally, I don’t mind so much. They kind of leave you to your own devices which is fine until you reach for your water and find it empty.

The Food —
I can’t even explain how satisfying the soondubu is. I always get spicy beef soondubu and it’s perfect. There’s no other way to describe it. Cho Dang has the best flavor of any soondubu I’ve tried. The beef to tofu ratio is good. I love the crunchy, burnt rice that gets stuck to the sides of the stone pot. They also have pretty good side dishes. The cucumbers are my favorite and the bean sprouts add a nice crunch when I add them to my soondubu. There’s not much else on the menu besides soondubu so if you don’t like tofu then I suggest you try somewhere else.

The Price —
It costs about $20 give or take a dollar for 2 people. The meat is a little more expensive but the soondubu is so filling that you definitely don’t need anything else.

This little restaurant is a gem and it would be a sad day if it ever closed down. Overall, the best soondubu around.
