1. What type of sound are you guys going for?

We call it ‘Enthusiastic Rock Music’, which lets us be vague enough to include all the different influences we pull in while still marking our territory as being unique. Clever!

2. How did your band start? Is there a story to it explain?

I started Countless Thousands coming out of college. Seven bassists later i met Dave. Twelve drummers later i met Jon. The story can be summed up in three words: ‘Betrayal, then Craigslist’.

3. What are some of your goals for this year with the band?

To win over the hearts and minds of our adoring public. We’ll put in another year of hard work and awesome shows.

4. Tell us a quick story of something your band would be part of? Something funny? Exciting? anything.

Well, I’ve always wanted to play a show riding on the back of a flatbed truck in motion. I don’t know how possible or legal that would be, but it’d be rad.

5. Have you guys toured yet? How was it?

Yup, we went out to Wyoming last month. Like all tours, it was a tapestry of sleep deprivation, terror and black ice at 4:30 AM, flying oranges, a DUI for a friend, a suicidal bunny rabbit, a recently un-closeted gay kid thanking us sincerely for our gay love song, and pancakes. And a few more things. Suffice to say we had a good time.

6. What are you trying to say through your music?

We’re telling stories. Storytelling is something of a neglected art in pop music and we strive to tell stories interesting enough to keep our own attention. You might hear us spin a yarn as complicated as a pirate captain’s revenge epic or as simple as how awesome our bass player Davey is (answer: very!). The philosophy under that is that stories endure where fashions fade – what we tell stories about defines who we are.

7. If you would have to describe the band in three words what would they be? and why?

Enthusiastic Rock Music.

8. What makes your band come on top compared to others?

We’re genuine. There’s a significant correlation between nerdiness, genuineness, enthusiasm and work ethic. We work hard to be in the service of awesomeness. We are enthusiastic about the experience of awesomeness. We stay true to ourselves, which strengthens our pursuit of awesomeness. And we are nerds; therefore the quest for awesomeness will be on a grand scale, fraught with equal measures of peril and dweebery. Let’s do this.
