Am I Right or Left Brained? Know How You Are Wired!

We all have a dominant hand. Did you know we have a dominant side of our brain that is used?

This article can help you determine if you are right or left-brained.

What does it mean to be right-brained?

This means that the right side of your brain is your dominant side. Usually this is the case with most left-handed people. Normally the dominant hand is what denotes this. In most cases, a left-handed person is right-brained and a right-handed person is left-brained. This is not always the case, though. There are many ambidextrous people.

Right-brained people are usually very good problem solvers and much more creative.. Often they are also very visual, learning better by visual images rather than auditory instruction.

Many times these people are also kinesthetic. This means that they learn better with hands on tools. Kinesthetic learners can also be very gifted in physical arts like dance, music, or singing.

What does it mean to be left-brained?

This means that the left side of your brain is dominant. Many times a left-brained person is right-handed.

People with this type of “wiring” usually fair very well in school due to the auditory teaching. Although left-brained people are not quite as creative, but are much more logical or analytical than their right-brained counterparts.

Many times, these individuals are better at science and math, but this can vary much with different teaching methods. Most I.Q. tests are written with the left-brained individual in mind. There are some new tests still emerging that are trying to change this.

How can I tell which is my dominant side?

Answer these questions. Whichever side is more prevalent usually is your answer.

Which hand do you write with normally? Which hand do you use to eat? Take a step. Which foot did you use? Which hand do you use when brushing your teeth? Which hand do you open soda pop bottles with?

If you answered left to these questions, you are normally right brained. If you answered right to most of these questions you are usually left brained. If you had a mix of both of these answers, you could be more equally brained or whole-brained.

To be sure of which side is your dominant one, you can ask your psychologist or physician.

We also have a long way to go until we can get an optimum environment for both right-brained and left-brained individuals. So much of the world is audio, rather than visual. This has been rapidly changing in recent decades.

Some of us are both right-brained and left-brained equally. No matter which side of the brain you use, you can be a success. Know your strengths, and know your weaknesses even better so that you may overcome them.
