Adele Set to Undergo Surgery Following Cancellation of U.S. Tour Dates

After having to cancel the remaining of her shows this year, it was just announced that Adele is set to have surgery to fix her vocal chord problems.

According to a statement released on Friday (October 28), the “Rolling in the Deep” songstress will have an operation “to alleviate the current issues with her throat” and must “completely recuperate before looking to schedule any more work commitments.”

Coming as a huge disappointment to all of those planning on attending one of her scheduled performances, Adele sadly announced that she’ll no longer be embarking on a 10-city U.S. tour.

The string of shows were slated to kickoff in Atlantic City on October 7th, but the British singer has canceled all of her shows after suffering a hemorrhage in her vocal cord.

Voicing her disappointment via her website, the 23-year-old wrote, “Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever. I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it and how truly devastated and annoyed I am by this. Wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as I’m sure you know!”

With no makeup dates being named thus far, Adele added, “My voice is weak and I need to build it back up. I’m gonna be starting up vocal rehab [soon] and start building my over all stamina in my voice, body and mind. I will be back and I’m gonna smash the ball out the park once I’m touring again. I apologize from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I do. I know it’s not only disappointing because of the show, but it’s plane tickets, hotel bookings, birthdays, anniversaries and time wasted. But please have faith in me that this is the only thing I can do to make sure I can always sing and always make music for you to the best of my ability. Truly yours and yours only forever, Adele xx”

On a positive note, doctors anticipate a full recovery out of the chart-topping singer.
