9/11 and Other Challenges

I’ve been traveling the last few days; family matters and yesterday to the financial District in NYC for a business meeting. After the meeting I paid a visit to Trinity Church and the adjacent graveyard where our first cabinet members are interred among other patriots and heroes from the American Revolution.

In my years in Wall Street this was a place where I would come occasionally to regain some humility while I let the aura of peace and tranquility soothe the raw edges and tensions of business and daily Wall Street challenges. Every American should have an opportunity to visit this historic, affirmative memorial to the birth of our nation.

From there I walked a few short blocks to where the Twin Towers once stood and surveyed the long awaited progress on the reconstruction of the hallowed Ground Zero site. I stood in the doorway of Fire Engine Company10 and reflected on the ruthless and senseless tragedy that befell the nation that fateful day on that very spot. It is an emotional experience that has the effect of fortifying our resolve to end this ongoing assault on our sovereignty and to emerge more dedicated than ever to achieve the ideals presented in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The nation’s interest in this Memorial is bone marrow deep.

I hailed a cab for the airport convinced that America’s true potential has yet to be achieved but secure in the knowledge that greatness is in America’s DNA, although for the moment we are a country struggling to unlock that potential. The potential for greatness is not a guarantee of success but the obstacles and deterrents along the way make the journey’s end all the greater.

America is now facing her greatest challenge as a relatively young Republic. It is our privileged responsibility to do our part in our time. Our children must inherit the best we’ve known not the debt we incurred along the way.

The challenge we face is the same-old-same-old, but with studied preparedness to exploit our weaknesses and the resources to sustain their efforts. From the first utterance of the idea to allow men to achieve their highest potential and never cede the right to govern to a privileged few, America has been the coveted prize sought after by progressive Socialists and Communists from opposite ends of the political spectrum with the same autocratic ambitions. Today’s challenge, though not yet identified with the accuracy of historical perspective, is comprised of a cold blooded Islamic Fascist faction and Marxist style extremists, intent on capturing and controlling our national liquidity through demoralization, disruption and intimidation. Although Obama is losing the confidence of many former supporters, we would be sadly remiss if we take any comfort at all in this phase of his presidency. His real threat lies outside the parameters of our political system.

Preparedness through education and knowledge is our best offense. Know who the enemy is; disregard attempts to convince us otherwise. Believe what you hear and see, but first be sure you are hearing and seeing with clarity. Distrust and reject clever political maneuvers. Until Obama presents a complete and detailed plan for the economy’s ills he has presented nothing. Republicans should not respond to half way measures and empty promises.

As the electorate responsible for the choices we make we need to concentrate on the upcoming election but we cannot afford to let daily attempts to transform us slip by unnoticed. The movement to render our system ineffective and antiquated does not rest and neither must we.

Obama’s is a failed presidency if it is a presidency at all. If it is something other than a presidency he may be more successful than we dare think
.
Call for his removal by any and every means available to us.
