100th Day of School Lesson Plan Activities for Preschool or Kindergarten

The 100th day of preschool or kindergarten is a fun day to emphasize the number 100. Your students will enjoy various activities, make memories and, of course, learn the number 100. Here are some ideas for the one-hundredth day of preschool or kindergarten.

Dress up like a 100 year old person.

You can either encourage the children to dress up like someone who is 100 years old, or have a dress-up time in the class. Ask for parent’s permission to use gray hair-spray. Be sure to take some pictures!

Make a necklace with 100 cheerios.

A second creative idea is to make a necklace with 100 cheerios. You can also use fruit loops, macaroni, or even large beads. It is time-consuming, but is an easy craft if they have the fine motor skills.

Donate 100 items to a local charity.

One wonderful idea is to donate 100 things to a local shelter, food bank, or other charity. For example, you could donate 100 socks, 100 coloring books, 100 batteries, or 100 cans of food, etc. Ask parents that children bring items if they can afford it. Some food banks might even allow you to come as a field trip.

Make a class photo collage with 100 photos.

Throughout the year, take various photos of your students. Print out 100 photos to assemble into a collage. (Be sure to try to have an equal number of photos for each kid.) Everyone can glue the photos onto a banner or very large poster board.

Make a wall mural with 100 hand prints.

This one can be a little messy. But, it sure provides a nice piece of decorative art! The kids will put their hand prints onto banner paper until you have 100 hand prints.

Learn about what life was like 100 years ago.

One idea is to discuss what it was like to live 100 years ago. Remind the children that there was no television, computers, internet or video games.

These are just a few preschool or kindergarten activities for the one-hundredth day of school. For more advice, try asking on a forum for teachers. Read “Forums for Teachers: Online Teacher Support Forums” for some links.
