Does not having a menstrual cycle, cause a woman to have painful stomach aches?
Q: one of my best friends has a menstrual cycle 2 times a year- and that's it- every month, she doesn't even spot, but those 2 times she gets her menstrual each year it lasts 2 weeks long- and comes with very bad stomach pains almost paralyzing- when she doesn't get her period those 10 months- she says that she still gets the paralyzing stomach pains- of course going to the doctor is a must for her, but does really not having a menstrual period cause someone a lot of pain.
A: your friend may have polycystic ovaries... how long has she had her periods for? when she goes to the doctor tell her to be checked for this it goes almost unnoticed because us woman can take a bit of pain and ussually just think it is all apart of having our periods and menstrating. she could have a fertility problem too, encourage her to go see a doc. asap.
Single dad: My 12 year old got her period and she's devastated, what should I do?
Q: My daughter got her period last month and she cried alot when she told me about it. I comforted her and told her that it is a normal female occurrence. I bought her all the necessary supplies she need and I gave them to her. This month she has gotten it for the 2nd time, she told me, and she still cried. I asked her why she is crying, she said that she hates getting it. I realized that some women get menstrual pain, so I asked her if it hurts and she said no. She only said that she does not like the bleeding because it is gross. I gave her a hug and told her that she is a young woman now so she has to get used to it, even her mother got it, and so does most women in the world. She won't eat anything and she is very sad. How can I make her feel better? Her mother is not her to take care of her, just me. I love my little girl very much, it hurts me to see her so sad. I feel like a bad father.
A: You poor poor man. I know when i was young and got it for the first time it was very embarrassing to get your period. Its a big step in a little girls life. She's becoming a woman and her body is changing. It's probably rough at school as well. I remember when i was in 5th grade i got it and i never wanted to change into my gym clothes the gym locker room because i was so embarrassed. Does she have an aunt or an older cousin that she could maybe talk to? Also, If she's using Pads that could be devastatingly embarrassing. You gotta deal with so many issues with those things. It feels like your wearing a diaper...and they make you smell....not to mention if your sitting in a classroom and need to go change it, its not very concealable. Lugging a pad across the classroom to the bathroom is never a fun trip. Perhaps kids at school are teasing her also. Kids can be cruel. Maybe try buying her tampons...they're more discreet. You could also make a doctors appointment for her, have her talk to a female nurse or to her doctor, or take her to an OBGYN. She sounds like she's a little depressed (with not eating and all) so it might be good for her to see the doctor. The doctor can help her ease her mind. As for you, it sounds like you're an excellent father who is very concerned for his little girl. In time she will be okay.I hope this helps!
