- A: I have ovarian cysts. I didnt know about any of it until I delivered my second daughter and my dr saw a cyst during the c-section. I didnt even know I had one. Since then I have had issues with several cysts and they are insanely painful. Mine have been the size of grapefruits or cantelopes. I have not recalled any specific "pregnancy symptoms" in relation to my cysts. I only recall the massive pain. I am 33 weeks pregnant now and when I was about 19 weeks I went to the er because of terrible pain I was worried about miscarriage but it ended up being a cyst the size of a cantelope that had to be removed surgically. So I guess my answer is this I have had cysts for about 3 years now and two pregnancies that were or will be delivered just fine.

- A: I have had a number of bilateral ovarian cysts (which included functional (simple cysts) and hemorrhagic and endometrioma cysts (complex cysts)) over the past 10 years. I have needed surgery for 2 of these cysts because they didn't resolve after a few cycles (as they usually do resolve after a few cycles on their own) and have a number of ovarian cysts rupture over the years causing intense pelvic pain.Ovarian cysts are usually a common and harmless swelling of one or both ovaries. These cysts most often occur in women who are between puberty and menopause, when the ovaries are in high gear propelling out mature eggs. The term functional means the cyst is not caused by any underlying disease or disorder, and that it will possibly resolve (shrink and disappear) on its own in a few weeks. Your cyst definitely explains why you had the ovulation cramping you experienced for a while after your ovulation. Your ovarian cyst could also explain why you have missed your period.Some functional ovarian cysts have no symptoms and are discovered, if at all, during routine pelvic exams. Others can cause symptoms, including changes in the menstrual cycle, including shorter or longer periods, skipped periods, and/or spotting between periods, pelvic pain or ache, especially during sexual intercourse or at the start or finish of menstruation, feelings of nausea or queasiness or breast tenderness.I too have experienced nausea and breast tenderness whenever I have had an ovarian cyst and they do drive you crazy, especially with the pain you feel around your ovary.A functional ovarian cyst probably will not give you problems conceiving or leave you infertile, however, if it is recommended that you need surgery to remove a cyst, you can talk about your pregnancy plans with your surgeon, who can help you understand exactly what is to be done, and what the impact might be. - Q: My fiancé and I have been engaged for 8 months, and though we aren’t planning on getting married for another year, I think I may have conceived either the Thursday before last, or that weekend. I’ve been on Yaz birth control for a year, and have never missed a pill but I have taken a pill 5 or 6 hours after I should have, and don’t take it at the same time every day. I know that birth control pills are supposed to be 99% effective, but I started having some weird things happen with my body so I looked up Yaz and there have been reports of many girls getting pregnant while on this pill (even with perfect usage).Usually I wouldn’t post a question like this, but as I stated earlier my body has started doing so abnormal things. The Sunday of the weekend in which I think I conceived, my face broke out very badly and remained that way until Wednesday, I’ve had frequent heartburn since last Tuesday which generally lasts from the time I go to sleep until 2 or 3 pm the next day and that causes me to be slightly nauseas (I haven’t vomited though), and in addition I have also been experiencing a very upset stomach; my face cleared up slightly this past Saturday, but that night when I got ready to sleep I started cramping a little and I woke up on Sunday with menstrual like cramps in my pelvic region/lower back which persisted until yesterday night but weren’t as heavy today. I know that’s generally just a sign of PMS, but I haven’t had cramps until the last day I start my period since I’ve started on birth control. That said, I shouldn’t be cramping until Saturday or Sunday. I looked up Implantation Cramping/Bleeding but I haven’t been spotting so I’m not sure if that’s what it is. Also, I find myself getting full quicker at meals but have become increasingly hungry for snacks throughout the day. I would like to state that I’m 21 and will be graduating from college with my B.S. in May, so I’m not an adolescent lol… I’m just slightly worried because though my fiancé and I want children some day, this isn’t quite the timing that we expected. :)Thank you!I know this is long, but I forgot to add that I haven't taken any antibiotics that would counter-act the Yaz. - A: Congrats on the engagement!I'm not familiar with Yaz birth control, but I've heard of plenty of women getting pregnant on every other birth control pill, so it's not a surprise that this one has exceptions, as well. Life likes to find a way. ;-)Your symptoms COULD be from pregnancy, but also from the flu, which is very common right now. However, the cramping sounds promising to me, because that is exactly how I felt after I conceived. I was cramping too early for when my period was expected, so it made me think of implantation cramping. Spotting and/or bleeding during implantation isn't actually very common. It only happens in about 30% of pregnant women, and I didn't have it. I had the cramping, though.Since it's been almost two weeks since you think you conceived (you said Thursday before last, right?), then you could try to take a home pregnancy test. The First Response Early Result or Answer brand tests are your best option. Don't buy blue-dye tests, because they are prone to false positives (called evaps). The early-result pink-dye tests are the best!I wish you all the luck, and I hope that you get the result you're looking for. ^_^ And if you ARE pregnant, stop taking the pill right away! You might even want to stop now, since you're suspecting that you might be, because it's dangerous for the baby. Maybe you could use an alternate form of birth control until you know for sure, like a condom.
