- What should i do about my horrible menstrual cramps?
- Q: I have had extreme cramps since my third or fourth year of having my period. It has been so bad that i have passed out before. Also every month i have to reschedule my entire week because it is so painful. I have had whole days of lying in bed, wallowing in pain. Sometimes i can't even eat. The worst part is that over the counter drugs like ibuprofen only work for 4 hours at the most. I have even taken all that you are allowed in one day at one time it was so bad and still no result. I am 18 years old if that information helps any. Also i am an active person and workout regularly, even during my period.
- A: You should ask your Dr for a referral to a gynecologist to see what the underlying cause may be.He/she may suggest you go on Birth control to help your problem or tell you what can help the problem you may have.In the meantime ask the Dr. to prescribe a stronger pain relief for period pain. You could try a hot water bottle or heat pad some times heat can be very beneficial.hope it helps.Good Luck.
- Girls, do you go to work or school when you have menstrual cramps?
- Q: On the first and second day I get horrible menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding. I have 2 3 hour classes today which means im gone from 12 - 6 today ): I have cramps now and I feel like CRAP. I know that cramps arent an excuse for many, but what should I do? This isnt easy to just "tough out" because cramps are debilitating sometimes. Ugh..... now im depressed great. -_-thanks for the words of encouragement everyone
- A: I know how you feel... Take 3 Tylenol (2 just doesn't cut it) and go. If you can't make it all the way, go home. I don't go to school anymore so I have to go to work no matter what. You know- I just tough it out, even though I wish I could rip my uterus out those first 2 days! Good luck!
- Agonizing menstrual cramps--something is wrong!?
- Q: Hello everyone. For the past four years or so, I've been suffering horrible, horrible menstrual cycles, and I need to know if something is wrong with me.I didn't used to get them very often, but recently they've been increasing in frequency and intensity. These periods have caused me no end of agony; more than once I have fainted from the pain. Most recently, I was literally lying on the couch, screaming in agony. Once I was hospitalized because security had no idea what else to do with me; they gave me oxygen and the pain rapidly dissipated. Sometimes the cramps cause me to hyperventilate, but this is usually after they get really horrible. Is this something I should be seeing a doctor about, or is this actually normal? I am not on birth control and am not and never have been sexually active (had I been, I'd have wondered if I was undergoing miscarriage).
- A: You should, um... probably go see a doctor. Your body is obviously trying to tell you something is wrong. They may put you on birth control or even hormone therapy.
