What causes debilitating menstrual cramps?
Q: Why do menstrual cramps hurt so much and what is the cause of very painful cramping? Are there any illnesses associated with painful menstrual cramps that I should be worried about. I get cramps to the point that I cannot walk or lie down because lying down hurts even more, so I just sit in a chair all day hunched over. Does anyone have any suggestions to help severe cramps. Pain killers and Menstrual cramp medicine give me only little relief?
A: You may want to go to a gynecologist for a general checkup. Not to worry you too much now, as some women cramp more than others, but extreme cramping is common with endimetriosis. A doctor can tell you more after an exam.
Desperate for help with horrible menstrual cramps :(?
Q: I usually get horrible menstrual cramps to the point where I can't even function whatsoever. It isn't like this every month though and my periods are not always consistent. Does anyone know what I could do or if this could maybe mean there is a bigger issue because of these things?
A: i'm 17 and ever since i started my period, ive gotten horrible cramps every month. and every once in a while, they get so bad that i actually pass out. ive missed a lot of school because of my period and i went to my doctor. i got checked for endometriosis and cysts. i didnt have any so she said the cramps were just.. there. i tried getting prescription medicine like Naproxen, which helped the big cramps turn into less painful cramps but it was still bad. so i went back to the gyno and she put me on birth control and now i can barely tell that im having a period. no cramps and its only heavy enough for a panty liner. i love it! talk to your doctor about it and they will do an ultrasound to check for cysts, etc. and prescribe you something.
