Menstrual Cycle .. (Women Only) ..?
Q: I understand that if a women doesn't get her eggs fertilized by a sperm she'll get her monthly menstrual period. Also, I understand that if a women does get "pregnant" she'll miss her monthly cycle. The question I wanted to ask was, "How would that supposedly menstrual period suppose to "cycle" out if a women misses it? Like, does her old menstrual period (or blood) come out when she is giving birth to her child or what happens to that old blood?" Second question - is that healthy for the mother to be if she misses her menstrual period? What about her unborn child that will be living inside the mother's womb for the next 9 months?
A: It's not blood that's waiting to come out. The blood that comes out when a woman mestruates, is from the egg which sheds because there is no use for it anymore. I hope the article below helps. Take care!
Period Problems, Doctors, Women help?
Q: Alright, I am a young girl. I have my menstrual period. Four months ago I was prescribed birth control, by a gynecologist, every day because I had awful cramps. The cramps are so much less painful now that I am on the pill, and it has not noticeably affected my mood. It did, however, affect my actual menstrual cycle. For the past two and a half months, I have had about six different, spaced out periods (definitely not "just spotting").I had gotten the first period of this strange cycle in late March around the time I was supposed to. It ended after four or five days. About a week later, I got another one. This one went on for about six days. Less than ten days later I got it again. (Keep in mind; each of these periods clearly ended, and they were not spotting.)After that ended about the same amount of days as the others, a week later Mother Nature came back. Its starting to become my "biweekly gift" rather than monthly.I started marking the starts and ends of my cycles and the beginnings of my last period and the one I just got are 13 days apart. Before I schedule an appointment with my gyno I want to know:Is it the pills that are affecting me?Is it something to be terribley worried about? Will they become normal after awhile?Should I get off the pill and go back to regular periods, but with painful cramps and headaches?Any suggestions as of what else I should do before I go back to the gyno?Thank you very much.~Lil Iggs
A: well "the pill" can cause a lot of damage. if you ask me just let nature take its course no matter how uncomfortable it is
Menstrual period question for other women.,...?
Q: I am just wondering if anyone else out there has this problem or if anyone might know what could cause this. My periods are usually really long (about 10 days) but are not real heavy. Everything I can find about period irregularities talks about HEAVY and long periods. Mine is usually really light the first day, moderately heavy the next two days, really light the 4th and 5th days and then moderate for two days and then really really light (more like brown discharge) for another 3 days. I am not a teenager (I'm 23) and have had my period for 11 years now. I have been to a gynocologist many times and she put me on a generic form of seasonale birth control for about 4 1/2 years just to give me more time between periods. Without the birth control they were never real regular in terms of total cycle length (somewhere between 30 and 45 days usually). Birth control helped make my cycles regular (every 10 weeks) but did not change the overall long pattern of my bleeding. I am trying to quit taking birth control now (I am just tired of taking it and am not sexually active - I am also a little curious if anything has changed...). Does anyone know what could cause a moderate-bleeding level, really long period though? My gynocologist hasn't given me any real reason for it, and since it stayed the same (other than making the cycles regular) when I was on birth control, a hormonal imbalance doesn't seem as likely anymore... ThanksOh yeah, and as for PMS symptoms, they are usually very light. I get light cramping for a day or two ahead and the first 2-3 days of my period but it is never enough to even take ibuprofen or anything. Its just enough so that I know I'm getting my period. I haven't ever been accused of being moody (b*tchy) during that time either.
A: I think I would get a 2nd opinion. It seems to me that you needed just a little bit of a stronger birth control. Since you are thinking of going off them, I would want to find out why they are so long. Even though they are not heavy, has your Dr. checked you for anemia? There is another medication they use to regulate cycles and duration, but your Dr would have to prescribe it, and they should know what it is. You might call and talk to a pharmacist.Good Luck!
