- A: usually you ovulate at about day 14-16 of your cycle (where day one is the first day of your period). If you can't have sex during the period after this it is unlikely that you will concieve. It can take up to 18 months for a normal healthy couple to concieve anyway. If you have any concerns about your menstral cycle your doctor can do some tests to check your hormone levels. Usually they do this on day 21. Good luck.
- TTC question about OPK?
- Q: I am a first time user of the ovulation predictor kits and I was wanting to know if the darkness of the lines meant that ovulation is coming soon. I have tested since Sunday and the lines are very faint, so do they get darker closer to ovulation or do they stay faint until right before you ovulate and get dark all of a sudden with no in between? My cycles are so messed up because I miscarried almost 8 weeks ago, so I am not sure how long my cycles are supposed to be. When I was got pregnant, I had a positive 30 days after the first day of the menstrual cycle. I have no idea when I ovulated and no idea when I conceived. I don't know enough about the ovulation predictor kits, so that is why I am asking here. I started my last period on October 31, so if it went to a 28 day cycle, then I should ovulate around the 14 of this month. I am just trying to see if anyone else knows more than me. Thanks in advance for your help.
- A: The darkness doesn't mean anything. The only time it does is when the test line is the same shade or darker than the control line. However, a positive OPK test line won't leave you guessing. It will be a noticable dark line, as in a dark, dark, dark line. Then you will ovulate 12-24 hours later.
