- Q: i get bad ones the first day of my period (i got my period 4 years ago so i thought it should stop) and they dont go away. only on my first day...and doc said nothing is wrong with me and he recomended i take medication. i do not want to take medication, call me wierd, but i do not believe in most medications and i get an allergic reaction to a common ingredient in most medicines (i am not getting into details). and i was browsing Y!A and i found these suggestions posted in another question:"- A hot water bottle on the site of the pain.- Painkillers like aspirin and paracetamol. - Evening primrose oil. This is especially effective if taken before the onset of cramps. - Raspberry leaf tea, strong and hot, before and during the pain. - Exercise: walking, cycling or swimming at a gentle pace is ideal for easing minor period pain. Take it easy and stop if you feel nauseous. "and i am trying to make a list of ways to get rid of cramps. does anyone know any other ways? none of those suggestions help much... except the tea, but it only goes away for a while and then come back. i do not want to get on birth control, i have seen the harm it does, and i am not sextually active, if that has anything to do with it. and lots of the suggestions in the list above are medication, and moving around, but my cramps get to a point where i am curled on my bed and cannot do much...i try to excercise, but they dont get much better. and i cant really swim when i have my period...i dont use tampons. so any suggestions, remedies, that do not involve medication, to get rid of cramps?
- A: Just rest, at the most walk a bit but don't run or swim, you should give rest to the lower part i.e. legs. And I think water bag is the best solution. Even i have extremely bad pain, specially on the first day but I just try to rest and use hot water bag, also don't eat cold food. In day time I sit in sun light, that is very very helpful, you should try this.

- Q: Please help, I have horrible cramps with absolutely no relief. I take Motrin and it helps a little but I steal feel nauseous.I'm a competitive swimmer and it means that for a week I really can't swim at all!NOTHING helps. And sometimes during my period I also get severely depressed. I don't feel like hurting myself, but I feel ridiculously sad for two or three days straight. It's horrible- how do I make it stop?
- A: The cramps subside as you get older. There really is no cureto the cramps because it's not a sickness, it's your uterus contracting. Most birth control still requires you having your period.. that means cramps included. Also, you are way to young to be on birth control. As for being depressed this is just your hormones.. I get the same way. If you do have thoughts of suicide, or if it begins to get worst than normal see a doctor. Here are a few remedies that has helped my cramps..Midol, IBUPROFEN, ( No advil! It actually can make it worst. )You can try a hot water bottle or a heating pad that you can place on your lower tummy. Or better yet if you have the time.. take a nice hot bubble bath it helps a ton!Exercise usually helps me, take a calm walk and listen to youripod it will get your mind off of the cramps.
- my instead menstrual cup keeps sliding down and becomes uncomfortable (a new problem) can I help this somehow?
- Q: I can't use tampons without getting cramps, I swim too much for pads and I won't always have an opportunity to rince a reusable product... but after over a year of using instead I started having problems where it always slides down into my vagina and it's compressed shape there presses out on the walls, and feels *very* odd. what can I do or try? Could this be because I lost my verginity? HELP!!!
- A: Loosing your virginity would have no affect on the use of softcups at all, loosing your virginity doesn't do anything to the shape, size or function of your vagina, I'd say you have probably just gotten too used to using them so you are not inserting them as you would have done when you first started using them, so I'd suggest going back to softcup-use-101 and follow the instructions exactly to ensure you're inserting correctly again. The softcup shouldn't be pressing against the walls of your vagina as it is inserted above your pubic bone, so that does suggest you are not putting the cup in high enough to hook over your pubic bone.I would also suggest using re-usable menstrual cups if softcups are not working for you any more - remember menstrual cups only need to be removed and emptied every 12 hours, and you don't always need to rinse them off - if for some reason you need to empty your menstrual cup in pubic bathrooms (rather than toilet at home or emptying in the shower) then you can just empty and re-insert without risk, you can use toilet peprer or baby wipes to wipe off, or carry a bottle of water into the bathrooms with you. A lot more convenient than using softcups and not as likely to cause problems with insertion or leaking.
