- Help on why my Stomach cramps while running?
- Q: I'm leaving for BCT in 9 days... I've passed my PT test w/flying colors and now i'm just running to possibly lower my score & get use to running all the time...Last week, I ran 3 miles one day, 2 miles the day after that, and 3 miles the day after that...Recently, when I've been running, I can only run 1.5 miles and my stomach cramps severely (it feels just like menstrual cramps) and I have to stop running and I'm usually doubled over and vomiting... I can't even get 2 miles ran in 1 setting now... I dnt know what's wrong with me..Like I said, I leave for BCT in 9 days.. I dnt want this to interfere w/my enlistment in the Army... But @ the same time I dnt want the Army to kick me out b/c I can't fulfill the requirements... Cuz I have really good days where I kick ass, then I have days like I've had these past 2 days where I get 1.5 miles done and can't go any further... It's very frustrating..Ok, so here's some of my background: I'm only 4 lbs overweight (military standards); I exercise 4-5 days a week; eat healthy; drink only water and milk (All sodas and juices are cut out); I dnt eat out; and I'm known to be anemic.. I take vitamins and potassium pills.. I dnt eat b4 I run and if I do I give it atleast 2 hrs to settle..Any advice would really help me!! Thanks so much!!
- A: Like others have said, make sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after your run. It's also a great idea to drink plenty of water the day before so your body will be hydrated for the next day. Sounds like you're just dehydrated but I don't know why you'd be vomiting though. Just remember that if you're working out and you feel like you're going to vomit then you continue to do what you're doing, you will vomit.
- Best painkillers or prescriptions for menstrual cramps and fatigue?
- Q: I have a fairly regular period, every 29 days, one week long. It isn't terribly heavy. But for the first few days, the cramps are terrible, I have fatigue, nausea, and sometimes muscle aches in my upper thighs. I've tried heating pads, and every OTC painkiller. Aleeve takes the edge off, but it still hurts. Does anyone know if prescriptions might help? Something that won't make me drowsy? I'd like to avoid BC with hormones, since fibroids and blood clots both seem to run in my family.
- A: Fiorinal (by prescription) and exercise
- Any doctors/nurses that can help me with a female issue please?
- Q: These are my weird symptoms:- For the past few months when I run, I get what feels like bad menstrual cramps in my abdomen - it's NOT a running cramp (I know the difference). It literally feels like I'm on my period but I'm not on it. Then it goes away when I stop running. Seems to happen the most during my ovulation time.- Last month my period was 5 days late, and it's normally not THAT late, but since anything can affect the start I didn't think twice.- During the past week when my husband and I have sex, I get a shooting pain up into the right corner of my abdomen, like where my right ovary would be. This pain is different from anything I've ever felt before during sex - I know that sometimes the man can hit your cervix, but the pain wasn't around my cervix. Now I have this tender/warm feeling in the area. Its not painful, but I can definitely tell something is there.- Today I discovered some dark tan discharge!! It looks like my period in the very early stages, however I'm not due for another week and a half or two weeks.I know that you can get pain and discharge during ovulation - however this is really not normal for my body. Could I suddenly be getting painful/weird ovulations?? The same thing happened a couple of months ago except the discharge was very very faint. Today it is very obvious.I do have an appointment to see my OB on Monday, but I am just curious if anyone has had a similar experience or could give me some information if you are in the health care field, etc. ??I'm not on birth control, no medications, and I doubt I would be pregnant since we use condoms.
- A: Glad to hear that you are going to your OB. They are the only ones qualified to answer this question.
