Is there a cure for brain cancer? If there is what is the cure?
Q:
A: There is no cure. There are treatments and first and foremost, if possible, is surgery to remove all of as much as possible, of the tumor. Then you go through about 6 weeks of radiation, 5 days a week, along with 7 days a weeks chemo for same period. Then normally you will get 4 weeks break, and come right back on a higher dosage of chemo, which almost always is temodar in pill form. If the tumor is found while still small, you may be given gamma knife treatment. Either way, you will be closely monitored by mri’s during and after your treatments, every 2 months till about a year after dx. Then, if all is still well, you will graduate to every 3 months, eventually going longer in between mri’s until regrowth occurs. For more info, ask Ian’s mommy, Sam. Cure for cancer? What do you think?
Q: Scientists cure cancer, but no one takes noticeDavid McRaneyPosted: 1/23/07EDITORS NOTE:Since the original publication of this article we have been inundated with responses from the public at all walks of life. It is important to note that research is ongoing with DCA, and not everyone is convinced it will turn out to be a miracle drug. There have been many therapies that were promising in vitro and in animal models that did not work for one reason or another in humans. To provide false hope is not our intention. There is a lot of information on DCA available on the web, and this column is but one opinion on the topic. We hope you will do your own research into the situation. So, we have added links to resources at the end of this column.END NOTEScientists may have cured cancer last week.Yep.So, why hven’t the media picked up on it?Here’s the deal. Researchers at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada found a cheap and easy to produce drug that kills almost all cancers. The drug is dichloroacetate, and since it is already used to treat metabolic disorders, we know it should be no problem to use it for other purposes.Doesn’t this sound like the kind of news you see on the front page of every paper? The drug also has no patent, which means it could be produced for bargain basement prices in comparison to what drug companies research and develop.Scientists tested DCA on human cells cultured outside the body where it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells, but left healthy cells alone. Rats plump with tumors shrank when they were fed water supplemented with DCA.Again, this seems like it should be at the top of the nightly news, right?Cancer cells don’t use the little power stations found in most human cells – the mitochondria. Instead, they use glycolysis, which is less effective and more wasteful.Doctors have long believed the reason for this is because the mitochondria were damaged somehow. But, it turns out the mitochondria were just dormant, and DCA starts them back up again. The side effect of this is it also reactivates a process called apoptosis. You see, mitochondria contain an all-too-important self-destruct button that can’t be pressed in cancer cells. Without it, tumors grow larger as cells refuse to be extinguished. Fully functioning mitochondria, thanks to DCA, can once again die. With glycolysis turned off, the body produces less lactic acid, so the bad tissue around cancer cells doesn’t break down and seed new tumors. Here’s the big catch. Pharmaceutical companies probably won’t invest in research into DCA because they won’t profit from it. It’s easy to make, unpatented and could be added to drinking water. Imagine, Gatorade with cancer control. So, the groundwork will have to be done at universities and independently funded laboratories. But, how are they supposed to drum up support if the media aren’t even talking about it?This is a column of opinion written by Printz Executive Editor David McRaney. A: It’s someones opinion. Scientists often find drugs that seem to hold tremendous potential when used on animals. But animal tumors are not the same as a human brain tumor, or a human breast tumor, or a human bone tumor . . in fact there are over 200 different types of human tumors and the majority of them are treated with a combination of different drugs . . all human tumors are different. Thus that is why we have Clinical Trials and universities, individuals, and companies may conduct a Clinical Trial to establish dosage, safety, and responses to their productsSo, if there is any type of ‘cure’ here for maybe one or two types of cancer . . or rather ‘treatments’ for these types of cancer than let this product go through the test phase first. The opinon writer is jumping to conclusions and writing this to stir up controversy and probably to sell a few newspapers or notoriety. He should know that Clinical Trials need to be conducted on any treatment.
is this cure for cancer being ignored do you know about it?

But, how are they supposed to drum up support if the media aren’t even talking about it?too find out more u can go look up Dca on google ill try to get the link from where i copied this info from. please look at this site : www.goodlifefoundation.com for all kinds of ways to get rid of all kinds of diseasesthis site is run by a German Dr and to the person who lost his Father im sorry for your loss.the original research:www.depmed.ualberta.ca/dca and the news report which i copied and pastedhttp://media.www.studentprintz.com/media/storage/paper974/news/2007/01/23/Opinion/Scientists.Cure.Cancer.But.No.One.Takes.Notice-2667600.shtml?reffeature=recentlycommentedstoriestabThe University of Alberta and the Alberta Cancer Board are committed to performing clinical trials in the immediate future in consultation with regulatory agencies such as Health Canada.but in America i dont think its even being looked at by the FDA and even if it was looked at it would take 7 years to get FDA approval for use.i didn’t write the article http://media.www.studentprintz.com/media/storage/paper974/news/2007/01/23/Opinion/Scientists.Cure.Cancer.But.No.One.Takes.Notice-2667600.shtml?reffeature=recentlycommentedstoriestabthats the link to it David McRaney wrote it but i agree with him.wow you say u can actually buy that online cool, well there are plenty of “alternative” treatments http://www.goodlifefoundation.com/has a few of them. they are all non drug so it probably won’t affect your chemo but ask ur doctorone important part of the article to look at is “Cancer cells don’t use the little power stations found in most human cells – the mitochondria. Instead, they use glycolysis, which is less effective and more wasteful.Doctors have long believed the reason for this is because the mitochondria were damaged somehow. But, it turns out the mitochondria were just dormant, and DCA starts them back up again.”Even if the drug itself won’t be used in America you’d think we would at least use the part where it debunks a former theory of doctors in which mitochondria are damaged beyond repair, do you think these doctors have come upon some sort of good luck or something? they just happened to find the right drug, i doubt it was very lucky, just very smart to think hey maybe we are wrong on some cancer facts lets give this a try and boom it worked so whats really going on is they pay for false medical reports to debunk any cure.
A: This has been in the news at the beginning of the year, but as you say since there is no money to be made no one will study it. I have stage iv colon cancer and was looking into it. The problem is that I don’t know how DCA will react with the chemo that may still be in my body. www.buydca.com is a site where you can actually purchase it and get the dosage required as tested in Alberta (less than $1/day) People are currently purchasing DCA for their pets. Since I have colon cancer, if DCA goes to clinical trial – they will first test DCA for lung, breast and brain cancers since that was where the success was with the humanized rats. In my lifetime DCA will not be approved, let alone tested for colon cancer. When my health deteriorates – I think I will be trying it .Wendywww.wendysbattle.com
