gastric bypass?
Q: This is only for those who had a gastric bypass surgery. Please share your experience and tell me if it works. Did you loose any weight? Did it hurt long after the operation? What should I be prepared for? Anything that you think maybe useful. Thanks
A: I spent my entire life overweight. I tried every diet, pill, excercise imaginable. Nothing ever worked. 5 years ago I had gastric bypass surgery at the age of 29. I went from 400 lbs. to 180 lbs. I spent 5 days in the hospital. My surgery was open so there is a longer healing time. I spent my first month mad that I couldn’t eat. The next month I spent looking at the loss of 40 lbs as a miracle. It takes awhile to learn new habits but after a time it becomes normal. I would never undo my surgery it has been a blessing. My only wish is that I could have done it when I was younger. If you would like more information I visited the site www.obesityhelp.com for 2 years b4 I had surgery. It was very informative about doctors, hospitals, and insurance issues. Not to mention some wonderful people sharing their stories.

Q: I was watching 60 Minutes last Sunday & saw the piece on Gastric Bypass. My mom is diabetic & matches all the other requirements for this surgery . How should she start. Like what is the first step? Find a doctor or should she be attending some class? I don’t even know how to help her?
A: First you need to call her insurance company and see if they cover it. Then you can ask them for a list of surgeons that they will pay for. You can also take her to her Regular doctor, and he can help. You need to basically just find a surgeon, and then they’ll get you going from there. Good luck.1. Call insurance2. Go to reg doc3. look online for a surgeon in your area try asbs.org
Gastric bypass?
Q: I had my bypass in April 2003. It was a great success, I lost 100 pounds and went from a size 24 to a size 10.Now, however, I find myself unable to resist snacking. Constantly. I’ve gone back up in size to a size 12, but I have no idea how much weight I’ve gained since I’m afraid to weigh myself.Has anyone else dealt with this? What did you do about it?
A: Avoid sugars first of all. If you don’t dump, sugars will get absorbed into your bloodstream immediately and spike your insulin level, which causes weight gain. Avoid drinks with calories. Try drinking black coffee when you feel a need to snack. If you don’t like black coffee, follow it up with a swig of your favorite diet drink (Diet Pepsi works best for me). Eventually, you will acquire a taste for black coffee. The caffeen will help keep you active and kill your appetite. Also, exercise every day.Best of luck
