How long did it take you to fully recover from open heart surgery? Not how long do doctors say.?
Q: I know that the doctor tells you that you can return to full activity after 3 months. I want to know when you feel like you are recovered. The person that I am asking about had a hole between the right and left auricle closed. She did not have a cardio-pulmonary disease. She is still not feeling fully recovered after 4 months. She used to only have 85% blood sat and now has normal blood sat but still feels tired.
A: I had 4X Bypass in Oct 2004, I returned to work part Time in a easier job in Mid December, I went full time in Mid-Febuary 2005, But I remained tired alot for almost a year, That is typical, My brother had 5X Bypass in June and he still gets tired easy even though he is able to walk 2 miles a day but He is tired, Tell her she will feel better but it takes a while
Should I help my ex-husband after open heart surgery?
Q: My ex-husband just had a quintuple bypass. He also has diabetes so there could be complications while he heals from such major surgery. He smoked for years, and did not take care of himself so now after years of self destructive behavior it has caught up with him. He divorced me about four years ago, for reasons I will not go into now. Anyway, while I was married to him he went the extra mile for me after the surgeries I had to endure. He was very attentive and did everything he possibly could to make things easier for me. Now he is in a postion where he is the one that needs help. He doesn’t have any family because they have all passed away, and even though he does have friends they can’t always be counted on especially when he needs help after using the restroom due to the large incision that comes from having open heart surgery. We have remained close friends even though we did divorce. I truly and deeply care about him, and I want so badly to give that same compassionate care that he gave me while I recovered from my surgeries. There is one major problem, I am married now to someone I really love. My husband of course is uncomfortable with my going 1200 miles away to help my ex even if it’s only for a little while. My husband realizes I have no romantic attachment to my ex whatsoever, but still he doesn’t want me going to help. Yes, if put in this postion and he was going to help his ex-wife I would also be very uncomfortable with it. BUT, I have so much guilt for not being there for my ex someone I look at now like a close brother when he helped me so much in my time of need. My ex is talking about having to go to a nursing home to have the assistance he needs to recover. I think this is so sad when he really went out of his way to help me when I needed help. Guess what I’m asking is how do I tell him I can’t help, and then how do I handle this guilt from not being able to give back what he gave me. Thanks for taking your time to read such a long explanation of this problem I’m having…
A: If your in a position to help him out then do it – otherwise arrange for a nurses aide to come and help him recover
