How bad is the pain during/after wisdom tooth removal surgery??

I don’t think it was bad. It’s a little worse if you have roots that are crocked and winding around a tree stump or something. They put the clamp onto the tooth, push down to loosen it; then they pull it out. It’s strange how not knowing ca…

Numbness in chin/lip after wisdom teeth removal?
Q: I got my Wisdom teeth out this morning, the surgery itself wasnt bad at all, and Im not yet feeling much pain, more of a general headache and minor general jaw discomfort. The thing that is bothering me most in my lower lip has swelled, and is completely numb along with my chin. Is this normal? I called the dentist and they said it was possible, but it feels really weird and I can tell that it isn’t right, I know my body and how it reacts to things.Has that happened to any of you? How long does it last? Thanks! It’s starting to tingle a bit, so i think that means the feeling is coming back! But sadly, the pain is starting as well 🙁
A: I had the exact same thing happen to me. After I got home from the surgery I slept for about 8 hours, woke up, and my lips weren’t numb anymore. After I went back to bed and woke up in the morning just the bottom tip of my chin remained numb, but it went away the later the day got. It certainly is weird to feel your skin with your hands but not actually feel it!
Wisdom teeth removal…?
Q: Is it safe to have done while pregnant?? Because I very well might be pregnant but I cant find out til Monday because my HPT’s are still coming back negative. And dont say that if your HPT test comes back negative then its negative because i am late but not more than a week and I didnt show up positive with my daughter until 2 weeks after my period was due.Also.. for those who’ve had the procedure.. was it painful?? Were to put to sleep or given novacane? How painful was it after the surgery? What pain meds did they give you? How long until you were fully recovered??Anyone who can answer at least the bottom questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all answers.
A: if you think you might be pregnant inform the doctor who is doing ht procedure about that concern.i was put out during mine, dull pain in the jaw with varying degrees of intensity depending on weather i had taken my painkillers(i had a liquid because i can’t swallow pills) about a week i think until they took the stitches out(only to keep the area covered and i only felt a slight tug when the were removed, no pain killers given for the procedure, it was basically in and out)
A few questions about wisdom teeth removal and iv sedation?
Q: I am getting all 4 wisdom teeth out on Thursday under iv sedation. 1 will be a simple extraction and the other 3 are all either partial or complete impactions. I have a few questions about the procedure and afterwards.1- I have never been able to get numb with novacaine. I have always felt every cavity I ever had to get filled. I am rly nervous that I will be able to feel them cutting out my wisdom teeth even under iv sedation. Does anyone have any input or experience with this. My surgeon seems to think that the reason i never got numb before was due to the dentist’s error but im not so sure and very afraid to take the chance.2- Afterwards, how long will the “drunk” feeling from the sedation last?3- Will my mouth taste like blood that day and night, and what can i do to help that, since i cant rinse my mouth until 24 hours after surgery.4- When i begin the salt water rinses, what is the best method for swishing to be sure i dont swish too hard and dislodge the clot?5- About how many days will it be until i am pain free?6- Last question- I am 21 years old, non smoker, no history of dry socket, but i am on an oral contraceptive. My surgeon and his nurse both said that being on birth control does not increase your risk of dry socket and that they have never heard of that before, but everything i read online tells me that my chances are doubled. What do you think my chances of getting dry socket are, and when will i be “in the clear” from getting it?I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer these questions, as you can see i am very nervous about the procedure.
A: 1) Rest assured that you will be numb. You will neither feel or remember the injections or the extractions.2) You will not really feel woozy for more than 30minutes but total recall and complete awareness will come a few hours later.3) You will have a taste,b ut it will be a very minor inconvenience4) Just let the water gently move around in the mouth. Don’t get too wild forcing it with your cheeks.5) To be completely pain free will take 10 – 14 days, but the worst when you’ll need pain pills, will be the first week.6) Chances of a dry socket is 1% on the uppers and less than 5% on the lowers. Just follow the post op instructions the best you can. Oral contraceptives will not increase the risk, but if for some reason you would be placed on antibiotics, that may make them ineffective.Good luck with the surgery
