Why does Helium, when breathed in, alter your voice box?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080416142318AAoUpde
Talking after breathing helium doesn't affect the pitch of your voice. It changes the timbre. This is because helium is less dense than air, thus sound travels faster in air. It has nothing to do with the vibrations of your vocal cords, but...

Can you reword this for me?
Q: this is for a choir project and I promised my group I would finish it I just would REALLY appreciate it fif you can keep all the detail/good words, but reowrd it.. thanks! The basic physics of the human voice works much like the musical instruments of the violin family. In the violin, sound is produced by causing a string to vibrate over a resonance chamber. The pitch of the sound can be altered by changing the tension on the string – a tighter string produces a higher pitch, a looser string produces a lower pitch. The quality of the sound changes based on how you vibrate the string (bow or pluck it) and how you modulate the tone (vibrato). The volume of the sound (or loudness) changes with the force applied when bowing or plucking the strings. Although the principles remain the same, the tone can also be made lower by increasing the thickness of the string (going from the thin high E string to the thicker low G string on the violin), by increasing the size of the resonance chamber (going from a violin to a viola), or both (going to the cello or bass). The basic sound of the human voice is caused by passing air over two vibrating ligaments (the vocal chords). The tension on the vocal chords can change to produce a higher or lower tone. The sound is further modulated by using the larynx (voice box), mouth and nose as resonance chambers. The size of the resonance chamber by can be adjusted by positioning the tongue and lips and by opening and closing your mouth. Finally, the quality of the airflow is adjusted using your lips and tongue to produced a smooth sound (like the letter m) versus an abrupt sound (like the letter b). The volume (or loudness) of your voice is adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of air passing through the vocal system. Reaching puberty changes the instrument of your voice. The vocal chords become thicker and the resonance chamber becomes larger, resulting in a lower tone. Why does the voice crack during puberty? If you have every played the violin (of heard someone who was learning to play), you will hear that simple mistakes can change a mellow toned instrument into a squeaky disaster. A boy going through puberty is learning to use the new qualities of his voice, and makes occasional mistakes. Men, in general, have a lower voice than women, because men, in general, are large animals. Therefore, men tend to have thicker vocal chords and larger resonance chambers.
A: I think it is great. Just get rid of all those parentheses:order: how sound made/quality/volume/pitchTried to keep same order in first 2 paragraphs The basic physics of the human voice works much like the musical instruments of the violin family. The pitch is also affected by the thickness of the string. Increasing the thickness of the string lowers the pitch. A thinner string results in a higher pitch. This is evidenced by the difference in pitch between the thin high E string to the thicker low G string on the violin. Another factor that afffects pitch is the size of the resonance chamber. The larger the resonance chamber, the lower the pitch The smaller the resonance chamber, the higher the pitch. Need Taming Tips for Timid Young Adult Rabbit?
Q: I am a first-time rabbit owner in need of a little advice from voices of experience.I own an un-altered mini rex doe who is about six months old, and has become very timid and defensive towards me. When I first adopted her (she was given to me because she was bred for show, but her mother chewed off all her back toes, a couple front toes, and half her tail; and she would have been euthanized. I doubt this has much to do with her behavior now but I figure more info is better) I left her in her cage and occasionally put my hand in and stroked her on the top and sides of her face. I also made sure I said her name and talked to her a lot so she could learn to recognize my voice. After about a week I would take her out of her cage (which is on top of my dresser) and put her on my bed to get some exercise. I did not put her on the floor because there are many electrical cords in my room and I did not want to risk her being electrocuted; besides, she never showed any inclination to leave the bed. Originally she would run around quite energetically and seemed comfortable with being touched and held, but slowly she took to just burrowing under the sheets and hiding there. In her cage whenever the door is open, she is generally either sitting in her litter pan or nest box, and will jump and grunt at my hands if I move them too close by. She has occasionally nipped my fingers when I try to move her to clean and such, in which case I placed my fingers behind her head and pushed it down gently but firmly, as I have been told is the proper way to discipline a rabbit. I can usually stroke her or pick her up but in both cases she becomes very tense and still. I bought some yogurt drops about a week ago to offer when I enter the cage, but she's been too wary of me to eat them (except one).I think her mistrust stems from the fact that for a short while when she started to act timid, I would lift her nest box up to get her, in the hopes that she would get used to me more quickly. I have read that this is a bad idea, but the rabbit we kept in our pre-veterinary class often had this happen, and she (also an un-altered female) matured into a very confident and pleasant rabbit. I'm guessing this was a huge mistake on my part, though. My other dilemma is that since her cage is on my dresser, I can't just open the door to let her come out when she feels comfortable. Should I relocate the cage to the floor (drafty?) and block off the electric cords? Put her on the bed then move the cage? Move the cage with her in it? Build a ramp? She's an adorable little girl and I want her to be healthy and happy while I own her, which certainly isn't happening at the moment. Please offer your advice!Thank you. :)I forgot to mention, I've had her for about 4 months.
A: It sounds like she could use some time to adjust, everything you are trying is great. One thing it could be is lack of good solid exercise. You really need to let her down on the floor to roam. This will help her get used to her surroundings and relax. What do you think of my writing?
Q: Here's an a piece:It’s so strange how your life can be altered so simply just like a hem of a dress. Getting shorter and shorter until your left with nothing but a worthless scrap of fabric. Now I was a victim of the altering left with nothing but a sore heart and a headache from all of the tears. I jammed a pair of old jeans in my turquoise canvas suitcase then closed it shut. The faint sound of drizzling raindrops snapped against the floor to ceiling windows that covered one of my four bedroom walls. I inhaled the familiar vanilla scent that had wafted in my room since I was little. Still breathing it in for my last moments of living here, I turned to my older sister. She was sitting Indian style on my bear mattress staring at the rain, while tears crawled down her cheek. Her long dirty blonde hair flowed like water down her back. Natural curls covered her head. I had the same but mine were chocolate brown and a lot less refined. She had just turned fifteen and would be a sophomore when we returned to school in the fall. She was my best friend in the world, simple as that. When she caught me looking at her she quickly wiped the away the tears with the back of her arm. She fumbled for the playing cards scattered around her and stacked them into a neat deck quickly. “Pick a card, any card!” She said changing the subject while fanning out the cards revealing only their navy side. Reluctantly I picked one toward the left, three of clubs. “Now put it back,” She instructed. I slipped in somewhere in the middle. She shuffled the cards, and then flicked the top of the deck. She later flipped the top card over. “Is this your card?” She asked holding up a six of hearts. I love rainstorms especially in the early summer. “Three of clubs. You should really work on that,” I said while tying up the laces of my Chuck Taylors. She laughed and stuffed them in her back pocket.“Can you believe we’re leaving,” I awed taking a seat next her positioning my legs to match hers. She shook her head and slid a silver ring back and forth on her finger. She had always been incredibly obsessed with jewelry. “Hardly,” She sighed. We let it sink in for a moment. We stared at the cardboard moving boxes overflowing with my belongings. I still could accept that we were leaving our childhood home and moving somewhere out of the blue, all thanks to some stupid accident. “You hoo!” A shrill voice called from the hallway. Our parent’s lawyer, Missy, popped her head in my door. “You packed?” She asked. He bob was perfectly styled and her lipstick was as bright as her fiery hair. Her tan pantsuit screamed ‘I’m a professional but I’m trying entirely too hard’......If you want to read on feel free: http://justagirlinanepicworld.tumblr.com/.....Story Synopsis http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090905221117AA2hZaw
A: If you don't want to embarrass yourself again, learn how to punctuate and capitalize dialogue and attributes (the 'he said' part). You're getting it wrong almost every time. I found the mistake so distracting I couldn't read for content.
