White film in mouth between gums and teeth.?
Q: I recently had an abscessed tooth. I am not sure if the white film in my mouth (between my gum and cheek (high inside mouth) is the pus draining out and building up or if it is skin that has formed in order to heal gums. I had been using various medicines(peroxide, Clove oil, anbesol, salt water) to relieve the pain. So I am not sure if I had burned my gums some how and now I am developing skin to heal or if this is the abscess draining. It feels like skin. Can someone give me an honest opinion on this. Please not dumb a** comments. Thanks youThe film can be removed. It seems to stick to my gums. Sometimes it will bleed a little if I pull it off.
A: If it is not painful then I would assume that it is just your skin trying to heal. How often are you using the peroxide? Peroxide will react with bacteria on your skin causing it to turn white. Could that be what it is? If it becomes painful or swollen, I would go back to your dentist to avoid an infection. Hope you are feeling better soon.
