WWE Picks 12 to Watch in 2012

WWE released a list of 12 Superstars who will make a huge impact in 2012. Dolph Ziggler topped the list, followed by Eve, Ted DiBiase, Chris Jericho, Hunico, Wade Barrett, Rey Mysterio, Zack Ryder, Cody Rhodes, Sheamus, Kane, and R-Truth.

If the list is anything like last years it will give a good look in 2012. The Alberto Del Rio, Daniel Bryan, and Dolph Ziggler topped the list last year. All three of those Superstars captured either the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship. Does that mean 2012 will be a good year for Dolph Ziggler, Eve, and Ted DiBiase? Dolph Ziggler will have a good year but the other Superstars are to high on the list. Some Superstars should not even be on the list. For that reason I have formed my own list just as I did last year.

Wade Barrett is my choice to win the 2012 Royal Rumble. Now that Barrett is solo he finally has the opportunity to break out. I thought Barrett was going to have a great year in 2011, which is why I placed him first on my list. Unfortunately, Barrett was unable to work his way up past the Intercontinental Championship. This year things will be different for Barrett. If Barrett does not win the Rumble, I would not be surprised if he also won SmackDown’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match. Barrett could end up losing both of those Matches, making it harder for him to capture the World Heavyweight Championship but not impossible. That is why I placed Barrett at number one on my list.

Dolph Ziggler will win the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship this year. Ziggler has started off 2012 with a bang by defeating CM Punk and John Cena. It might be six months before Ziggler wins either the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship but its bound to happen this year. Ziggler could also win Raw’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match this year. That is why I placed Ziggler at number two on my list.

Drew McIntyre is my wild card this year. Last year McIntyre let me down. His new years resolution was to win the World Heavyweight Championship in 2011. McIntyre never made good on his new years resolution. After being drafted to Raw, McIntyre was hardly ever in action. Now that McIntyre is back on SmackDown he has the opportunity to turn things around if he could start winning. Since returning to SmackDown, McIntyre has lost three Matches. According to SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, if McIntyre does not start winning Matches he will be fired. This could turn into a great storyline if the WWE allows McIntyre to win the Royal Rumble. McIntyre could continue to lose until the Royal Rumble. At that point Long could tell McIntyre he is done giving him chances. If he does not win the Royal Rumble Match he will be fired. At that point McIntyre can draw a number for the Rumble and pick a lower number like seven or eight. If McIntyre does not win the Rumble I can still see him winning the Intercontinental Championship this year. That is why I placed McIntyre at number three on my list.

The Miz held the WWE Championship for five months in 2011. After Chris Jericho and CM Punk finishing feuding for the WWE Championship, I can see The Miz winning it again. It would be great if The Miz could win Raw’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match. The Miz could than cash in the Briefcase against Jericho. The Miz could defeat Jericho and earn the right to call himself ‘the best in the world’. That is why I placed The Miz at number four on my list.

Chris Jericho made his return to the WWE earlier this year. According to his return promos, Jericho has returned to claim what is his. Some members of the WWE Universe believe Jericho has returned to claim that he is best in the world. If that is true Jericho will most likely capture the WWE Championship by defeating CM Punk. If Jericho truly is the best in the world, the WWE should allow him to capture the World Heavyweight Championship while he is still the WWE Champion. That is why I placed Jericho at number five on my list.

Cody Rhodes said he would pull an Ultimate Warrior this year. What that means is Rhodes will hold the World Heavyweight Championship and the Intercontinental Championship at the same time. I will be impressed if Rhodes pulls an Ultimate Warrior; However, I doubt it will happen. Rhodes will probably lose the Intercontinental Championship before moving on to the World Heavyweight Championship. If Rhodes does plan on winning the World Heavyweight Championship this year, he will have to move fast. Randy Orton, Christian, and Mark Henry are currently injured. This provides less competition for Rhodes. When these Superstars are cleared to compete, it will make it harder for Rhodes to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. That is why I placed Rhodes at number six on my list.

Sheamus will probably capture the World Heavyweight Championship this year. Sheamus went backwards last year by capturing the United States Championship. This year Sheamus will have the chance to prove that he can carry the World Heavyweight Championship as a face. That is why I placed Sheamus at number seven on my list.

Brodus Clay could capture the United States or Intercontinental Championship this year. Clay’s ‘Funkasaurus’ gimmick puts him in an almost perfect situation. If the WWE Universe gets behind ‘The Funkasaurus’ Clay could capture the Championships as a face. If the WWE Universe does not get behind ‘The Funkasaurus’, Clay can turn heel and continue taking out opponents on his way to a Championship. Clay has the potential to do something in 2012, that is why I placed Clay at number eight on my list.

Ted DiBiase has been gaining a good fan base since starting ‘The DiBiase Posse’. This could lead to DiBiase capturing the United States or Intercontinental Championship if he can get enough of the WWE Universe behind him. If not DiBiase may be able to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships, if his brother gets called up from Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). That is why I placed DiBiase at number nine on my list.

Alberto Del Rio had a great 2011. He won the 2011 Royal Rumble, Raw’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match, and the WWE Championship on two different occasions. It will be hard for Del Rio to Match his accomplishments from last year which is why I moved him way down on the list. Even though Del Rio will not have the same success as he did in 2011, he may still be able to capture the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship and win the 2012 Royal Rumble if he can return from injury on time. That is why I placed Del Rio at number ten on my list.

R-Truth could capture the United States or Intercontinental Championship this year. Now that he is a good R-Truth again we will have to see if the WWE Universe can get behind him. He will have to check will Lil Jimmy first, to make sure it’s ok. That is why I placed R-Truth at number eleven on my list.

Zack Ryder had a break out year in 2011. When 2011 started Ryder hardly ever appeared on WWE Television. Thanks to Ryder’s hit Youtube Show “Long Island Iced Z”. Ryder was able to launch himself to WWE Television ever week. It also lead to Ryder capturing the United States Championship. Now that Ryder has captured the United States Championship, his Youtube Show may be coming to an end when it reaches the one year mark in February. Not to worry WWE Universe, as Ryder has set up his friend Michael Chiapetta with his own spin off “Long Island Iced Chi”. Chiapetta has already recruited Ryder’s dad and The Big O for the show. The spin off gives Ryder time to focus on the United States Championship. I don’t see Ryder launching himself into a WWE or World Heavyweight Championship this year. Ryder will probably hold the United States Championship for three or four months. He may also compete in Raw’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match. Other than that I don’t see Ryder doing to much. That is why I placed Ryder at number twelve on my list.

As you can see I left Eve, Hunico, Rey Mysterio, and Kane off my list. I almost left Zack Ryder off my list and replaced him with Tamina, as she will probably capture the Divas Championship this year. Another name that crossed my mind was Brock Lesnar. Unless he truly needed the money I’m not sure he would return. Lesnar has pretty much accomplished everything there is in the WWE. For that reason I left Lesnar off my list and decided to add Wade Barrett, The Miz, Brodus Clay, and Drew McIntyre. Do you agree with my additions or would you have added a different Superstar to the list?
