Woman’s Panty Tutu

You don’t have to pay fifty bucks or more for a simple panty-type lingerie piece from a specialty store. You can easily turn a pair of panties into a tutu outfit that you – or your guy – will love. If you can sew just a little you can make your own lingerie and, with the money you save, you can have several new lingerie pieces for the price you would pay for just one at a lingerie store.

Tulle isn’t expensive and is just what you need to turn a pair of panties into a sexy lingerie tutu. It’s available in colors of white, black, blue, pink, and many other shades. The net-type fabric is easy to sew and looks wonderful when attached to a panty.

Measure across the width of the panty – at the elastic – and triple that measurement, to cut the width for the tutu. That will allow for some gathering of the tulle when you sew it onto the panty. Cut the length of the fabric to be as long as you want for the tutu. The length can be cut so that the tutu skirt will come just to the crotch of the panty, or much longer than that, depending on the design you want. The tulle doesn’t have to be hemmed so cut the exact length you want.

Fold the tulle piece in half and, at one edge, pin it to the side seam of the panty. Sew the ends together and then pin them to the opposite side seam. Mark an area right in the middle of the panty as well as the lace, on the front as well as the back. Pin the center lace to the center front, and do the same to the backside. Begin at one side seam and start sewing the tulle onto the elastic area of the panty. it might be necessary to make tiny pleats in the tulle to make it fit. If you want, you can lay a piece of narrow lace on the edge of the tulle, and sew it on at the same time. The narrow lace makes a nice finish around the top of the panty tutu.

As you sew on the tulle, stretch the elastic of the panty taut, and use a straight stitch. If you don’t stretch the elastic the panty won’t stretch when you go to put it on. After the tulle is completely sewn on, you’re finished.

To make a matching bra, cut a wide strip of the tulle, then sew it around the top edges of the brassiere. Sew it only from one underarm area to the other, to create one look, or all the way around, for a slightly different appearance. You’re going to look so sexy!
