Woman in Film-Las Vegas: Individual and Group Membership Requirements

Woman in Film-Las Vegas (WIF-LV) is the 44th chapter of Women in Film (WIF). This internationally recognized non-profit organization is committed to the education and development of women in the global entertainment and media industries. Like in other WIF chapters, its local and international memberships consist of producers, writers, administrative and managerial personnel, and other film professionals and students.

Memberships are geared towards the enhancement of members’ skills and improvement and updating of their education. At the same time, the organization also provides networks and linkages in finding media-related employment and project opportunities in Las Vegas, Nevada. Individual Membership Levels

An interested applicant must select a membership level, which is valid for one year. As of 2011, a Professional Membership costs $60. This is open to production professionals who are actively engaged in the industry or were actively engaged in the industry within the past three years.

A Silver Membership costs $60. This is open to individuals who are at least 65 years old. They should be working in or retired from working in film, video, TV, and/or other related production fields.

An Intern Membership costs $60. This is open to individuals who graduated from film school or in an entry-level professional work with less than two years of industry work. This membership has all the standard membership privileges like other membership levels, except for the voting rights.

A Student Membership costs $40. This is open to individuals actively studying film, video, and/or other related fields. Interested students must include proof of current school registration, school I.D., and/or most current grade report/transcript in their applications. This membership has the same privileges as the Intern Membership.

Special and Group Membership Levels

An Alliance Membership costs $60. This is open to individuals who support the works of WIF. They may not meet the membership requirements found in other existing categories.

A Dual Membership costs $60. This is open to individuals who are already members of at least one WIF chapter and they would also like to be members of WIF-LV. They can be prior members of other U.S. or international WIF chapters.

A Corporate Membership costs $5,000. This is open to companies, academic institutions, and other organizations supporting the work of WIF. This type of membership also includes individual memberships and free attendance or participation on any two WIF workshops or seminars. As a Corporate Member, the Board of Directors of the company, institution, organization, or foundation must determine the number of individual memberships to be granted for them. This must be approved by the Board of Directors of WIF-LV.

Role of the Board of Directors in Membership Applications

The Board of Directors runs WIF-LV. The people serving on the board are elected by the membership. They make primary decisions in membership applications and approval and implementation of the organization’s various projects. They may come from all disciplines within the industry. They can also hold offices and/or chair in the committees of WIF-LV.
