If you ask any one to name who is the best author of crime fiction you will probably get several answers and the same would go for romance and humor. If you want one author that combines all of those genres there can only be one answer and that is Janet Evanovich. Ms. Evanovich has been a bestselling author for years with books full great, memorable characters and plenty of mystery, romance, quirky humor and food. One of her best loved characters, starring in 22 books, is lingerie buyer turned bond enforcement officer Stephanie Plum.
It is hard to pick one book of hers that could stand out as a favorite other than to say the last one I read and that is Wicked Appetite. Wicked Appetite is the first book in her latest series starring Diesel, a character that started out in the Plum books, that teams him with a cupcake baker that also has unmentionable powers. Together they set out to track down seven magical stones that can destroy civilization if they fall into the wrong hands. Those wrong hands are a killer named Woulf, Diesel’s brother, and dangerous hands that can burn flesh.
Janet Evanovich (born Janet Schneider, April 22, 1943, in South River, New Jersey) is a second generation American. Janet, just like so many children of immigrants, was the first one in her family to graduate from college, where she majored in art. After college she quickly found herself married and had children. She settled down to be a housewife and raise her children. Everything was going great but she still wanted something more so she started writing and taking improve lessons. She spent ten years trying to write that one great novel but despite completing a couple of manuscripts have no luck. She later tired her hand at romance but but again no one would buy her manuscripts. She took temporary work and not long after that one of her romances was bought by a publisher. She soon had a $2,000 dollar check in her hands and her writing career was up and running.
