Why I Love Colorado Springs

Looking for a place to vacation this summer? I rate Colorado Springs as one of the best places to live and/or visit. If you can’t find a sport, recreation or activity to do here, it would amaze me.

Its founder General Palmer, envisioned Colorado Springs as a resort destination, which is how Colorado Springs received its first nickname of “Little London.”

It’s a city that has captured the heart of millions for years, and for good reasons. Beginning in the late 1800’s, Colorado Springs became a natural health destination for tuberculosis patients. People from all over came to bathe in the natural mineral springs, bask under the Colorado sun, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Throughout its history, Colorado Springs has been a popular tourist destination due to its surrounding natural beauty and magnificent climate.

It’s just an all around great place to live. If you haven’t been to Colorado Springs you should check it out. It’s located about 60 miles south of Denver, Colorado’s capital. It sits at the base of the beautiful Pikes Peak Mountain and boasts of over 249 days of sunshine per year.

Residents say, it just doesn’t get any better than this. While the state ratings overall are pretty impressive, the cities ratings are equally as good. Colorado Springs ranked 5th Great City for Young Adults by Kiplinger in October 2011, 15th brainiest city by Portfolio.com in December 2010 and in the August 2009 edition of Outside Magazine it declared Colorado Springs the healthiest city in America.

It’s sunny, dry climate, has been said to offer some pretty good health benefits. But, whether or not the Rocky Mountain air in Colorado has a healing effect or not, the benefits of living in Colorado Springs are spectacular. Colorado Springs is filled with an array of things to do that are healthy. From biking, hiking to horseback riding, it’s a place you’ll fall in love with.
