Lots of people head off to their nearest craft store to purchase a nice, paper mache box to give someone a gift. With paper mache, you don’t spend much money, and you get to decorate the box yourself. There are lots of different ways to embellish a paper mache box, from painting it, to decoupaging it, to covering it with gift wrap. A paper mache box is available in any number of shapes and sizes. You’ll find designs like round boxes, square ones, star-shaped boxes, ovals, and more. Choose one small box, and a larger one; they can be the same shape or two different shapes.
The small box is ideal for giving a jewelry gift, a gift card, cash, a love note, or a small trinket. The larger box is perfect for filling with candy. Start by painting or otherwise decorating the small box – as well as its lid. Decorate the large box and its lid as well.
There are different ways to present the gift and candy combination. One way is to use the small box in the way it was meant – to contain the small gift. Another way is to use the small box as a pedestal for the gift. With the latter, you attach the gift to the lid of the small box, and use this arrangement as a pedestal inside the candy box. After the gift itself is in place you can then fill up the large box, around the gift box, with candy. Just purchase single-wrapped candies and pour them into the large box.
