For carnivores, however, there’s no need to feel like you’re trading on taste by choosing to indulge in a lower fat turkey burger instead of beef. Burgers are classically American fare, so this New Yawker admits to being a tad choosy when it comes to finding a good burger overseas. Visiting Berlin? Don’t even bother.

Giraffe Burgers

Once upon a time the Giraffe was known as Guerrilla Burgers. A couple of years ago they shut their doors, did a re-haul and became Giraffe Burgers and Cocktails. Good thing, too. Who couldn’t use a fruity cocktail with a great burger. The staff is friendly, the music is funky and the food is yummy. What more do you need to know?

Gourmet Burgers

You have hit the food jackpot here. Gourmet Burger Kitchen has lamb burgers, chicken burgers and Portabello mushroom burgers if you fancy stepping out of your turkey burger box. If you are looking for a thick and juicy burger with your choice of myriad toppings then you are in your own personal sweet spot. GBK is a chain so don’t despair if you aren’t in the neighborhood.

Find Gourmet Burger Kitchen at 50 Westbourne Grove, London W2 5SH in Bayswater. If you’re doing a semester abroad be sure to ask for the student discount. Prices aren’t bad though. Ring them up at: 020 7243 4344. Take the tube to Bayswater with your best mates, of course.

Bodean’s

With Bodean’s you are going to shell out a couple more shillings to get your turkey burger on but it’s worth it. This American eatery is where you should head if you want a taste of Southern barbecue. You can even watch the Superbowl here. They take reservations, which is definitely the way to go on a Friday night.
