Toshiba Satellite T235-S1350RD 13.3 Inch Netbook PC Review

Got my Gemini Red Toshiba Satellite T235 – S1350RD 13.3 inch Netbook PC last Christmas (December 2010) and I love it! Not only is the design super lightweight (less than 4 pounds) and ultra thin at just under an inch thick, but this netbook is extremely functional as well. Why is this netbook so great? Well let me tell you a little bit more about why I LOVE this PC.

First of all, I’m always breaking things! I don’t know if you’re like me or not, but I’m extremely hard on anything electronic. I just somehow happened to break ALL of the USB ports on my desktop personal computer, but not so with my Toshiba Satellite T235. It has two USB ports, an Ethernet port, both headphone and mic jacks, a VGA-out connection, and a Kensington lock slot all located on its’ right side. That’s not all, though. The left side boasts a 6-in-1 memory card reader, HDMI-out port, and an eSATA/USB combo port (making for a total of three possible USB connections). This netbook is much superior to the competition in terms of number of ports. Pretty great combination for such a small PC and a destructive owner like me!

The Toshiba Satellite T235 is quite fairly priced. The lowest price I found online was $579.99 new, but you may be able to find used models much cheaper. I’m not sure how much mine cost, as I got it for a Christmas present from my parents. My Dad is quite the techie, as well. He even liked the Toshiba Satellite T235 so much he bought two more, one for himself and one for my mother. This sort of reaction from an otherwise finicky and quite particular engineer of over 35 years, I’d say that’s paying the T235 quite a high compliment.

My other problem with electronics – they’re always dying on me! In my experience, the battery life of the Toshiba Satellite T235 is anywhere between 4.5-6 hours on a full charge which is quite decent, actually, for a netbook. The best part about the entire PC, in my opinion, is that Toshiba’s Sleep-and-Charge feature allows you to charge your MP3 player or phone from all of the USB ports, talk about functionality!

If you’re a fan of HD video, the Toshiba Satellite T235 does not disappoint. The machine’s panel streams 720p video well and the screen supports a wide viewing angle. Images are extremely sharp and colors are noticeably bright and true to hue. With a 13.3″ backlit LED widescreen display, this netbook is really more comparable to a laptop in terms of visibility, another factor that was very important to me when choosing a netbook. I didn’t want a netbook that was so small I wouldn’t be able to see anything, or a keyboard that was so compact I wouldn’t be able to comfortably and accurately type. Most images appear very bright and lucid, not to mention very little glare from such a glossy screen.

Overall, most of these factors played key roles in my decision to select the Toshiba Satellite T235 for my next PC. Almost a year a later, I’m still loving every aspect of my functional, affordable, and portable netbook. So in short, if you choose the T235 for your next netbook you will not be dissatisfied!
