Fashion trends are always changing and there is one celebrity stylist who knows fashion more than anyone when it comes to the red carpet and big stars. Los Angeles-based Sophia Banks Coloma is Kirstie Alley’s stylist and works closely with other celebs. The likes of Blake Lively, Amber Heard, Brittany Snow, Erika Christensen, and many others wear designs by the Australian-born stylist. A keen sense for predicting cutting edge styles is Sophia’s specialty and she’s well-known in Hollywood for her work on the red carpet. She predicts key fashion trends in six months and spent time talking about the latest 2011 styles worn by some of today’s hottest stars.
On the set of “Syrup,” Amber Heard started the trend of stepping out in bright colored pumps with an elegant dress. Emma Stone also appeared on the red carpet with the 2011 trend.

“You’ll notice on the red carpet a lot of women wearing black dress with blue colored pumps or purple shoes,” Sophia said. “It’s a trend that’s definitely of starting.”
What are some other big fashion trends for 2011? Sophia shares that celebrities are opting for less jewelry to make a bold statement.
“A trend we’ve been seeing for a while is the no necklace look with stud earrings, and chunky cocktail ring,” the stylist said. “It’s pretty much the standard look right now. Basically minimal jewelry — limited to stud earrings and a chunky ring. Almost everyone on the red carpet is doing it.”
Additionally, mixed metals is big in 2011. This is one of Sophia’s favorite celebrity looks for the year.
She explains, “Wearing mixed metals is a new trend. It was a big faux pas to wear jewelry like that before, but it’s a popular trend to combine bronze, silver, and gold. That and was done on “Syrup.” For example, a bronze ring and silver bracelet is really in.”
When it comes to skirts, the long sheer look over a shorter version is hot for 2011.
“Another thing you’re seeing now is a sheer long skirt over a shorter skirt,” Sophia said.
She gave Rosie Huntington wearing Gucci as an example with a long sheer black skirt over a black short skirt.
What’s the fabric used a lot for a stunning look? The celebrity designer says it lace. A lot more lace is seen with actresses.
