Three Steps to Finding the Perfect Fitness Class

Not all group fitness instructors are created equal. This guide will show you how to find a fitness instructor that is compatible with you and your fitness goals in three easy steps.

1. Research your options.
Gone are the days of Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons. Today gyms offer a variety of classes to satisfy the needs of diverse consumers. You may be surprised that one local fitness center offers Aqua Zumba and Pilates while the fitness center down the street offers Kickboxing and Pole Dancing. If you are conservative, you may shy away from Zumba and gravitate to Spinning. The choices are limitless. Find out what options are available in your neck of the woods and in your preferred time slot.

2. Ask for referrals.
Does your co-worker attend a hip hop class religiously? Or maybe your Facebook friend keeps raving about her Jazzercise class. Discuss it. Ask questions, even the ones that seem insignificant. For instance, does the instructor start the class on time? Does the instructor attend on a regular basis? These are answers that you need to know when deciding to attend a class.

3. Go for it.
Now that you know what is available and are armed with trusted opinions. Pick a class to attend and attend it. I would recommend not forming an opinion about a class until you visit it for a couple of weeks. Your body will need time to get accustomed to the new workout regimen, and you do not want that to get in the way of shaping your decision. Like the old saying says,”Don’t knock it until you try it!”

Have fun!
