The Best Moments in the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is filled with wonderful moments. While some parts are challenging and others are heartwarming, they all succeed in creating a memorable experience. The game provides a great mix of action, story, and puzzles. These are my favorite moments in Skyward Sword.

Sky Keep
In one of the first rooms Link walks into, there is a slide puzzle. Little does the player know that carelessly messing with it makes this dungeon extremely difficult. The puzzle controls the layout of the rooms. If you don’t think about what order you’re moving the tiles, you can spend lot of time backtracking. The design is brilliant. It’s simple, yet frustrating and challenging. When you figure it out, it makes for one of the best moments in Skyward Sword.

Final Battle
The final battle must be one of the longest in the series’ history. First, you face your toughest fight with Ghirahim. After defeating him, Demise rises. Ghirahim babbles on about what a great servant he is to Demise. In a not so surprising turn of events, Demise absorbs his faithful servant, and the real battle begins. The final fight of Skyward Sword is an amazing moment. Demise is a formidable opponent, and not easily forgotten.

Learning the truth about Zelda
Through out Skyward Sword, Link is trying to find Zelda. He briefly sees her at the end of each dungeon, but she always slips away. When we finally find out what Zelda’s destiny is, it’s an enormous twist and a great moment. Zelda is actually the mortal incarnation of the Goddess, Hylia. As she cleanses herself in each temple’s spring, her real memories come back. This twist is so perfect and heartwarming. It also explains why the series is called the Legend of Zelda.

The Sand Ship
One of the most interesting dungeons in Skyward Sword is the Sand Ship. The mini-boss, Scervo, seems just like a regular skeleton Link is used to fighting, but the battle takes place on a narrow plank. There’s no turning around or dodging. The amazing moments in the Sand Ship don’t stop there, though. You need to switch from the past to present numerous times by hitting the hard to reach crystal with the bow and arrow. The interesting and different boss fight that takes places on each level of the ship is also unforgettable.

The Silent Realms
The concept of the Silent Realms is familiar to gamers who played Twilight Princess. Link has to collect 15 tears in each realm. The tricky part is finding all of them and not waking the Guardians. If you do wake them, they attack. It only takes one hit for Link to be defeated and have to start over again. These parts break up the action and present a different type of challenge. The Silent Realm is definitely harder than collecting the pieces in Twilight Princess.

Skyward Sword has plenty of twists and turns, but these are the moments I look forward to while replaying. Many of them might be tough, but beating the enemy or solving the puzzle is worth the reward.
