The Battlefield

Don’t be afraid to show the world how you feel. Especially at home. One day, I was at home, all by myself, when my sister came home. She was 23. And VERY pushy. When she entered my bedroom, she said in an angry tone, “What are you doing?” I said, “Homework.” Then she walked away. But this wasn’t just today, this was everyday.

And it wasn’t always with me. It could be with anyone who lived here. She didn’t say the exact thing though. While I was sleeping one night, she and my mom were fighting. I was surprised it didn’t wake my 5 and 4 year old nephews, Matthew and Michael. Which brings me to who lives here. Its me, mom, Chrissie (my sister), my 2 nephews, my brother in-law, and our dog Farley. I was so afraid to stand up for myself. Especially in front of evil Chrissie.

Anyways, her and my mom were fighting about work being done. I could hear my mom say, “Honestly! You really need to come home earlier and contribute to the work in this household!” My sister replied, “I had to study for my PCAT! Its not MY fault!” While this was all goin’ on, my brother in-law, Adam, was sleeping in the living room. Sometimes I would get so upset, I would cry myself to sleep. Or go to the bathroom and cry. I wondered why Chrissie always had to be so mean. But the point is, at least I had a family. Think about if I didn’t! And if I didn’t have a sister, who would pick me up from school? So it all comes down to this. Focus on the good things in life, not the bad things.
