Thanksgiving Meditation – Devotions from the Road of Life

“Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” Psalm 30:10-12, King James Version

Thinking back on my life, I must say I

Haven’t always been the person I hoped.

Although I’ve tried, I’ve often fallen short.

No “retakes” are allowed. I’ve somehow coped,

Knowing as I struggled to excel, I’d

Stumble, trip, or fumble yet again, and

Give pain or disappointment to loved ones.

I‘ve learned I need His help to simply stand.

Very often, life distracts my actions.

I don’t make time to stop and testify.

No better time than now to boldly say

God, thank You for your gifts. You reign on high!

As we approach Thanksgiving, let us remember not only the physical things God gives us, but also the second chances and fresh starts He offers. Most of all, let us remember the greatest Gift of all, His Son.

Father, please accept our meager thanks and keep us in a grateful spirit every day. When we get so busy that we forget to say the words, may You find them inscribed on our hearts in praise for You.
