Thanksgiving Day Activities in Gatlinburg, Tennessee

If you are in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on Turkey Day this year, and you want to do something more than dine at home with your family, or watch a parade, or sporting event on TV, there are several local events that you may not want to miss.

For fans of youth football, there is the 39th Annual Gatlinburg Thanksgiving Day Bowl held at Mills Park. The 3 day competition began in 1972 and has grown to include over 40 teams in over 10 states. The competition starts at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and includes teams with several age brackets for youth from ages 6 to 14 years. Parking is free for spectators. This is an excellent opportunity to support youth involvement in athletics, and several past participants of the bowl have gone on to play professionally in the NFL. If you prefer shopping, particularly for unique, handmade items, the Thanksgiving Arts & Crafts Show at the Gatlinburg Convention Center is being held November 22nd through November 26th. Nationally known artists and crafters will display the unique crafts and artwork during this week! Admission is free. You can contact the Convention Center for more information at (800) 588-1817.

Ober Gatlinburg Resort and Amusement Park is also open, and in addition to their regular winter season activities such as ice skating, its scenic restaurant will be serving Thanksgiving Day dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 6p.m. Adults are$16.95 per person (plus TN tax)Children 12 & under- $10.95 per person (plus TN tax). The Trolley Ride of Lights in Downtown Gatlinburg will also be open Thanksgiving Night. The City of Gatlinburg lights up the winter nights with millions of lights and lighted displays from November through February. To best take in this fantastic display, the Trolley Ride of Lights embarks at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. and is $5 per person. This guided excursion begins at Gatlinburg’s Trolley Center located at Traffic Light #5 and carries guests through downtown Gatlinburg and adjacent Hwy. 321.
