Tasty Treats for Your Toddler

Trying to feed your toddler or child in general isn’t the easiest task for many parents. Even if you’ve been blessed with a good eater, sometimes even the best eaters have days when they just won’t munch down what you want them to. Many factors contribute to these changes including boredom with certain foods. Why not try some creative ideas to encourage positive eating habits?

Dip De Toast
While some children could live on toasted bread everyday, others are not so keen on such a boring food. Give the tot a dish of yogurt to use for dipping the toast in. Unlike peanut butter, butter and jelly, you don’t sacrifice taste when you purchase a yogurt without sugar or that’s all natural. Besides the benefit of nutrition, toddlers love being able to interact with their meal, so dipping definitely gets them involved. Applesauce also works well as a dipping sauce.

Almost Pizza
Pizza is messy when you give it to a toddler. In order to keep your baby’s clothes clean, make pizza without sauce. Use dough to create mini pizzas. Cover the small pies with mozzarella or another similar white cheese. Sprinkle some parmesan on top, along with oregano, parsley and a hint of basil. Place veggies on the pizza, if your picky little eater doesn’t do much fresh or cooked vegetables separately.

Carrot Teething Ring
It’s inevitable that your little one will teeth. If he or she isn’t the most pleasant teether, you might want to try an all-natural, healthy teething ring. Freeze a carrot until it’s frozen solid and allow your precious angel to use it to sooth sore gums. Other veggies may be used, as well.

Sauce it Up
Some children love spinach, while others, not so much. If your toddler doesn’t like something, such as spinach, put it in your spaghetti sauce or pour the sauce over it. The saucy disguises the yucky veggies, so your child will probably never know they’re there.

Using Leftovers
You probably have a refrigerator full of leftovers that will never get eaten. Instead, they’ll make their way into the back of the fridge to be forgotten about. For lunch, you can always combine some leftovers to make a brand new meal. For instance, if you have chicken marasala leftover and some mashed potatoes, pour the chicken over the potatoes. This lives up the potatoes, which benefits your budget and the cleanliness of your fridge.
