St. Patrick’s Day at the Oldest Irish Pub in Indianapolis

What better place to be in Indianapolis on St. Patrick’s Day than at the oldest authentic Irish Pub in the city? McGinley’s Golden Ace Inn near downtown Indianapolis is the place to be this St. Patrick’s Day and will be hosting two days of St. Patrick’s Day festivities, both inside the pub and outside in a huge tent set up in the adjacent parking lot. The Golden Ace Inn is a local favorite in Indianapolis, and is located on East Washington Street. On both March 16’th and March 17’th 2012 the Golden Ace Inn will be filled with St. Patrick’s Day Revelers, authentic Irish music, good food, and of course plenty of Ale.

The Golden Ace Inn was established in Indianapolis in 1934, only four months after prohibition. The pub was founded by Irish immigrants John and Ann McGinley. The pub still remains in the McGinley family, holding to the traditions of its original owners. The food at the Golden Ace Inn is good and is very reasonably priced. At this Irish pub you can find sandwiches, all served with chips, as well as several delicious soups. The Hamburger at the Golden Ace Inn was voted “Best homemade cheeseburger” in the city by Indianapolis Monthly magazine. There are plenty of ales and spirits to be found here as well.

Being the oldest Irish Pub in Indianapolis, as you can imagine, the Golden Ace Inn puts on an amazing St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza. This year there will be two days of festivities and authentic Irish music. 2012 marks the Golden Ace’s 79’th St. Patrick’s day celebration. There will be a large tent outside in the adjacent parking lot, as well as plenty of activity in the pub. There will be plenty of authentic Irish music, with several bands here on tour from Ireland. Bands will also come from New York and Indianapolis, as well as some from various other locations across the country. At McGinley’s Golden Ace Inn, there will be plenty of music, beer, and good food, so if you are in Indianapolis on St. Patrick’s Day, head on over and have a good time. Don’t forget to wear green!

You can find McGinley’s Golden Ace Inn at 2535 East Washington Street, just a couple miles east of downtown Indianapolis. The Golden Ace Inn opens at 11:00 am on Fridays and 1:00 pm on Saturdays. There is parking adjacent to the pub. The Golden Ace does tend to get crowded on St. Patrick’s Day, however, so be there early to enjoy the experience!
