Spring Painting Ideas for Your Home

As nature breaks out in color and sunshine, your home may start to feel dreary by comparison. That’s a perfect time to refresh the decor of your home with a few simple, affordable painting ideas. You don’t have to paint all your walls from floor to ceiling. Instead, consider these partial paint jobs with a real fashion statement.

Spring dining room glamor

Look for an affordable wood or fabric screen at a flea market or discount home store. Paint the wood (or spray paint the fabric) in a bright spring hue that will go well with your dining room wall. Dramatic colors like eggplant, purple or crimson are especially beautiful. Display this screen at angle against the wall of your dining room to add a splash of color.

Flowers on your kitchen wall

At a craft store you’ll find beautiful stencils of large flowers. Use them to paint multi-colored petals and blooms on your kitchen wall. Consider taking down your familiar kitchen wall decor to make room for your paint creations. You can always cover your spring paint job come autumn, then reveal it again next spring.

A bright wall for your living room

Pick the most prominent room in your living room (preferably the one opposite the entrance) and turn that space into an accent wall. Choose a bright, spring color like orange, purple, blue or pink. Paint the wall then hang a large floral painting at its center, one with matching colors. Or if you don’t have such a painting, simply frame a beautiful floral fabric.

A field of wild flowers for a girl’s room

At a craft store buy a selection of delightful flower stamps. On a bare wall in a girl’s room, draw green flower stalks, then print flowers atop them. Create a sea of floral shapes and hues to imitate a field of wild flowers. And remember that you don’t have to create a stalk for each flower, only for the first one or two rows.

A blue sky for a boy’s room

Bring the bright horizons into the room of a special boy. Paint an accent wall in periwinkle blue, or mix three shades of blue together with a sea sponge for a faux finish. Then use a stencil to spray paint white clouds or simply draw these fluffy creations. Finally add wall stickers of birds, air balloons, parachutes or planes for fun.

Fresh living room breeze

Give your living room a fresh look with minimal painting. Simply repaint your mantelpiece in a bright new color evocative of spring. Green or white are especially refreshing. Next spray paint a few craft store frames in the same color. Frame floral postcards or calendar prints in the frames. Then display your spring images on your fresh mantelpiece.

Front door makeover

Make your front door as sunny indoors as it is outside. Simply paint the panels on the door in an accent color, which will stand out against the pale or dark background. Consider using bright colors like yellow, orange or red. Then add a matching bouquet of flowers on your entryway table.
