Yesterday in the big Apple an inexperienced political newcomer won a seat in a strategic congressional district that for more than a century had been democratically owned. The ninth district congressional seat in New York City was most recently occupied by former Congressman Anthony Weiner until his resignation by disgrace from a sexting scandal in June 2011. Mr. Weiner exposed himself to a female and the world via twitter. Weiner’s resignation did not cause much concern to the Democratic Party because of its historical stronghold there. The Republican upset in yesterday’s election shocked the democrats and made the Republicans smile. It gave the media a new reason to play the “I Told You So Game” with President Obama blaming the president for everything bad that is wrong with America. .
This morning several major newspapers and internet blogs have headlines that read Unknown Republican Bob Turner Beats Democrat David Weprin as a Referendum of Disappointment with the Obama Administration or similar headlines. Each one implies that the policy of the Obama Administration is sole reason that Democrats were handed such a stunning and unexpected defeat.
What would America’s media have to talk about were if not for blame Obama game they play so well? How would the stories they report be different if they were to base them on fact rather than the political agendas of their owners; the people that sign their paychecks. The 9th congressional district in New York is one that is heavily Jewish, perhaps more than any other in the nation. It is also fact that many Jewish voters are at odds with President Obama because of his views on the issue of a Palestine State. If the voters of district 9 chose to elect an unknown to represent them as retaliation or political tantrum for their displeasure with President Obama, I say to them something my grandmother often said to me “You are cutting off your nose to smite your face”.
The truth of the matter is that Anthony Weiner and his exposed genitals is the reason that Bob Turner beat David Weprin; his penis not his performance cost him his congressional seat. ieGHHisHe surely did a satisfactory job for the people of his district; they certainly thought so for he came to them again and again for another term in office and again and again they sent him back to Capitol Hill. Weiner was not forced to resign because he was incompetent, not politically savvy or did not have the best interest of his constituents at heart. But rather because of two other reasons: a targeted plan by the media to overdose Americans on the Weiner genital story and the hypocrisy of the very voters that judged him so harshly into resignation. The voters of the 9th Congressional District in New York should take their finger pointing selves to the mirror, turn that finger around and point it to the person looking at them.
President Obama did not get us into two wars, did not spend billions of our tax dollars in those wars, and did not create the economic environment that allowed banks to steal the dreams of working class Americans, a theft that weakened the foundation of our economy causing it to crumble. He did not cause us to devalue our teachers through no child left behind, he did not cause us to decrease spending on our infrastructure while we built roads abroad in war zones where they are bombed and destroyed and he did not give the rich tax breaks so that they could harm the financial health of small businesses and mom and pop owners all over America. He did not allow insurance companies to raise the cost of health care and decrease the patient care and he did not get rich from the high prices of oil as a shareholder in oil companies that held up drivers at the pump.
I am sick and tired of holier than thou Americans judging others so harshly as if they are free of sin. This country was founded by crooks, thieves, con men and liars. They stole from the Indians and pushed them on the reservation, they enslaved my people who they brought here in chains from Africa and when forced to give us freedom manipulated the legal system to enslave us educationally and economically. These are the people that Republicans still work to protect, they care little to nothing about the middle of America, for we all are a disposable commodity in the path of their objective to make the rich richer.
It is not politically correct or socially feasible to say what you think in 2011, that is what the freedom of speech has boiled down to. I say a political reality is long overdue. Bush had eight years to take us to gutter, and the sanctimonious ones of you expect President Obama to wave his magic wand in less then two years and fix the Bush mess. I say this country is going to hell in a fast plane, and President Obama is not the pilot. Let the republicans maneuver the plane if you like, if you think the economy has crashed now wait until the Elephants get at the throttle, they are already in the cockpit and it you put them in the drivers seat in 2012 the economy will not only crash it will burn.
