Review of the IRobot 560 Roomba Vacuuming Robot

This year for Christmas I got the iRobot 560 Roomba Vacuuming Robot. I have waited so long to give a review because I wanted to get a good feel for how well it worked before giving it a review. I must say that after several months of using my Roomba I love it and can’t imagine life without it now. It is so nice to have clean floors with so little effort on my part.

Based upon the research I did previous to getting the Roomba we did purchase an extended warranty on it. I have not had to use the warranty yet but I had found many complaints that the batteries went bad fairly quickly, and many people said that their Roomba’s had to be repaired around the one-year mark. It was based upon these comments that we decided to purchase the extended warranty.

When we first started using the Roomba we noticed that it’s reservoir would kill up quickly and have to be emptied. As time went on, and the Roomba had been in use daily for a while it took longer for the reservoir to fill up. Unfortunately there is no warning signal that the reservoir is full and needs to be emptied. This is a feature that I think would make a great addition to newer models.

The Roomba works very well on carpet but it does wonders on hard wood floors and tile. The only bad thing is that it can be very noisy when it gets to the hard wood and tile floor areas of the house.

The only bad thing that I can say about its operation on carpet is that it does miss spots, however the next time it runs it hits those spots and misses others. So it is a give and take. The floors aren’t as clean as they would be had I vacuumed them myself with a regular vacuum but when you factor in the convenience of the Roomba it is a good tradeoff for me. We let the Roomba do the vacuuming on a day-to-day basis and we do the heavy duty vacuuming about once a week.

We have a Golden Retriever who does shed, and the Roomba handles the pet hair with ease. We have had no problems whatsoever with how it picks up pet hair.

All in all I love the iRobot 560 Roomba Vacuuming Robot and would highly recommend it to someone who was considering purchasing one.
