Product Review – ‘Honeywell Surround Heat’ Heater

As the weather comes to a chill, people are looking for plug-in heaters to warm a room in their house. I purchased the “Honeywell Surround Heat” heater this morning. I based my purchase off the one review on a website that said “this heater does its job, not cheap and not expensive . . . ” and also off the box that stated it heats “a whole room.”

Beware.

The person who posted that positive review must live in a box. I live in a small studio apartment, and I believe this Honeywell Heater would take a year to warm just 1/4 of my living space. I keep putting my hand up to it, and all I feel is lukewarm heat. When I move my hand 1 inch away or start typing on my laptop, I’m freezing, and the heater is not even a foot away from me. I am right underneath it.

Basically, you get what you pay for. This heater is cheap, and if I were you, I would spend a little extra money getting a heater that at least does what it is designed to do.

The “Honeywell Surround Heat” heater box says that the heater is designed for whole room heating. Again, I think it may take a year for this to be accomplished. The heater has 12.5 amp, 1500 watts, and is rated 120 VAC. To be honest, I don’t know what this means, but all I know is that the box is misleading when it states “whole room heating” with this heater in the middle of a standard size living room. It has arrows pointing out of the heater to portray the 360 effect of surround heating and this is also misleading.

Do not buy this heater. Dish out 30 extra bucks for a decent heater to save you the burden of returning this product online or driving back to the store for an exchange or refund. You are better holding your fists in the air and blowing your hot breath on your knuckles.
