Our everyday hair style is great for daily wear, but during the Holiday season we need to glam up the hair style a bit for Christmas and New Years parties. These party hair style tips will help you get from curly to straight or vise versa and be party ready with minimal investments or time or money.
Curly to Straight Party Hair
To get that sexy, sleek, straight hair look you will need a hair masque conditioner, smoothing cream (sold in any drugstore), ceramic styling brush, blow dryer and ceramic flat iron.
Begin the hair straightening in the shower – After shampooing as usual, apply the hair mask conditioner to weight hair down. The gently towel dry (no rough housing the hair) and apply the hair smoothing cream to relax your curls.
Part hair into one inch sections and secure out of the way with clips. Start with the section of hair closet to your forehead, place the ceramic styling brush at the hair root and roll it forwards while blowing it dry (set blow dryer on medium heat) with blow dryer aimed at the floor. Repeat until hair section is straight and dry, then continue around head in the same manner. Once hair is completely dry, set the blow dryer on cool and blow hair for a few seconds to cool it down. Use the ceramic flat iron all over hair to smooth out any bumps and add shine to hair.
Straight to Curly Party Hair
Big, loose waves are in style and easy to achieve on mid-to-long hair by using a curling iron and scrunching gel (you’ll also need volumizing shampoo, conditioner and a blow dryer). Begin the hair style transformation in the shower by using a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Gently towel dry then flip head upside down and blow dry on medium setting to add more volume and movement to hair.
Place pre-heated curling iron at the end of a one inch section of dry hair and carefully wrap hair around barrel while twirling the curling iron towards scalp. At the hair root, hold the curing iron for a three count, then release. At the adjacent one inch hair section, do the opposite – place the curling iron at the hair root and wrap hair around the barrel while twirling the iron towards the hair end. Continue around head, alternating top to bottom curling and alternating the direction of each curl. When all hair is curled, work in curl defining scrunching gel to keep hair looking it’s wavy best all day or night.
