The Governors Awards, which were part of the show, now has its own night. Now, in its third year on that solo event, were handed out in November. The two Honorary Award winners were James Earl Jones and Dick Smith. Oprah Winfrey received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.The Student Academy Awards were handed out in June.
Not only that, the Nicholls Screenwriting Awards were also given to writers who have has not sold or optioned a screenplay or teleplay for more than $5,000. The Student Academy Awards is an annual competition for college and university filmmakers. Winners – selected by the professional filmmaker members of the Academy – receive trophies and cash prizes.
