New York’s 9th district has been Democrat since 1923. Thanks to Barack Obama, it is now a Republican district.
Republican Bob Turner ran on a platform opposing Obamacare, federal spending and tax increases, increased regulations and Obama’s abandonment of Israel.
Obama has done in 2 years what Republicans couldn’t do in 88 years, changed the party affiliation of New York’s 9th district.
This election was preceded by along with the election of Scott Brown in 2010 to a Democrat seat held since 1961, occupied by murderer Ted Kennedy since 1962.
The 2010 election saw 6 seats change hands in the Senate, 63 seats in the House and 11 gubernatorial seats.
