NFL Pick Em for Week 2

Last week’s picks: 10-6

Lock of the Week: 1-0 (Texans)

As you can see, I went 10-6 in my picks for week 1. The first few weeks are typically the toughest because you aren’t sure how good some teams are going to be, yet. One good thing is that I made it through week 1 in my survivor pool.

Here are the picks for week number two…

Sunday, September 18

Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) @ Detroit Lions (1-0) – Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense looked great last week with Stafford throwing for three touchdowns. The Chiefs team in general looked anything but good against Buffalo and they could be in for a long season. My pick: Detroit Lions (*My “Lock of the Week” pick)

Oakland Raiders (1-0) @ Buffalo Bills (1-0) – Whoever wins this one will be a surprise 2-0 team. Buffalo put up a whopping 41 points against the Chiefs in Kansas City. It could be tough for the Raiders to travel all the way to Buffalo. My pick: Buffalo Bills

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) @ Tennessee Titans (0-1) – Baltimore dominated their arch rival (the Steelers) last week. Tennessee lost to an average team in Jacksonville. My pick: Baltimore Ravens

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) @ New York Jets (1-0) – The Jaguars may be without tight end Marcedes Lewis this week. That will be a huge loss considering he’s their second best weapon and the Jets struggle against good tight ends. The Jaguars won’t be able to compete with just Jones-Drew. My pick: New York Jets

Cleveland Browns (0-1) @ Indianapolis Colts (0-1) – The battle between two teams that are coming off terrible losses. Indianapolis will be better just because they can’t be any worse, can they? With that said, the Browns are better overall. My pick: Cleveland Browns

Arizona Cardinals (1-0) @ Washington Redskins (1-0) – Another game between two teams who will be a surprise 2-0 after all is said and done. While the Cardinals are a better team, they don’t travel well: especially to the east coast. My pick: Washington Redskins

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (0-1) – Donovan McNabb looked awful in the Vikings opener and Minnesota may have to turn to Christian Ponder sooner rather than later. Buccaneers’ quarterback Josh Freeman has played well on the road in his young career. My pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Green Bay Packers (1-0) @ Carolina Panthers (0-1) – Carolina quarterback Cam Newton is coming off the most impressive rookie debut for a quarterback ever. He faces stiffer competition this time around. The Packers are quite possibly the best team in the league once again. My pick: Green Bay Packers

Chicago Bears (1-0) @ New Orleans Saints (0-1) – Despite his mother’s passing, Brian Urlacher should play this Sunday. It may not matter, though. The Saints are coming off a tough loss, will have had more than a week to prepare and are very good at home. My pick: New Orleans Saints

Seattle Seahawks (0-1) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) – After getting dominated against the Ravens, the Steelers will be pissed. This could get ugly. My pick: Pittsburgh Steelers

Dallas Cowboys (0-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (1-0) – What a great matchup this was in the 90s. Now? Not so much. The Cowboys are a better team. My pick: Dallas Cowboys

San Diego Chargers (1-0) @ New England Patriots (1-0) – This one is probably the best game for the day games. If this one was in San Diego, I might take the Chargers. With that said, it comes down to coaching and Belichick’s edge on Turner is huge. My pick: New England Patriots

Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) @ Denver Broncos (0-1) – The Bengals are coming off a surprise win, sparked by backup Bruce Gradkowski. If he starts, they have a better chance. The Broncos aren’t any good but they’re playing at home against a lesser opponent. My pick: Denver Broncos

Houston Texans (1-0) @ Miami Dolphins (0-1) – The Texans are coming off an impressive win against a bad team and the Dolphins are coming off a bad loss to a great team. The Dolphins are 0-5 against the Texans in their short history. Don’t expect the trend to stop as Houston has more on offense and Miami has been bad at home. My pick: Houston Texans

Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) @ Atlanta Falcons (0-1) – Michael Vick returns to Atlanta in prime time. While the Eagles struggled a little, they pulled off the win against a decent team in St. Louis. The Falcons were dominated by Chicago. Vick and co. take this one. My pick: Philadelphia Eagles

Monday, September 19

St. Louis Rams (0-1) @ New York Giants (0-1) – Both teams are beat up and this could be an ugly played game. The Giants are probably a better team and have the home field advantage. My pick: New York Giants

Thanks for reading. See you again next week.

Cheers!
