NFL Midseason Awards: A Fan’s Take

MVP
1
. Aaron Rodgers GB: I don’t think anyone can dispute that Aaron Rodgers will be the MVP this year. He has made NFL defenses look foolish all year, just toying with them. This will be his first of many MVP’s.
2. Tom Brady NE: Brady has played like Brady and the Patriots are still an elite team, so he’s second only to Rodgers at this point in the season. He’s on pace to break Dan Marino’s most passing yards in a season record along with Drew Brees and Rodgers. Look for him to make a surge in the second half of the season and get that record that i’m sure he defnitely wants to add to his collection.
3. Frank Gore SF & Fred Jackson BUF: Now I’m sure this might suprise most, but this is based solely on how important these two have been to their very good teams. Gore is having another great year and proving that he is still an elite back in this league, but most importantly Gore has been instrumental in leading his team to a 6-1 start. Jackson is breaking out, arriving this year as an unstopabble force for the 5-2 Bills who have relied heavily on him. Both will need to keep it going in for their teams to be successful.
Offensive Player of the Year
1.
Drew Brees NO: Also on pace to shatter Marino’s yardage record. Came awfully close in 2008 season.
2. Adrian Peterson MIN: AP is running as hard as ever, showing he is the best back in the game.
3. Calvin Johnson DET: Megatron is as unstoppable a wide receiver as there is today. On pace for 22 TD’s!
Defensive Player of the Year
1.
DeMarcus Ware DAL: Ware has been on the verge of this award for years. This should be his year.
2. Jared Allen MIN: Just like AP, Allen is playing his best ball regardless of whether his team is winning.
3. Charles Woodosn GB: The future hall of famer is always in considertion for this award. Always!
Offensive R.O.Y.
1.
Cam Newton CAR: This is by far the easiest award to give out. Any football fan knows what this kid has been doing to the league in only his first year. He’s 2nd in the league in passing yards!
2. A.J. Green CIN: A sublimely talented receiver that might have a shot at the pro bowl.
3. Andy Dalton CIN: A.J.’s quarterback is also gifted and they will form a dynamic duo for years to come.
Defensive R.O.Y.
1
. Aldon Smith SF: He has lived up to all the hype as the 7th Pick in the draft. Barely got any snaps off the bench in his first 3 games, but in his last four games he has started and dominated with 7 sacks in that span. Leads all rookies in sacks and is tied for fouth in the entire league.
2. Von Miller DEN: Von has also lived up to the hype of being a superb pass rusher with 6 sacks. He’s right on Aldon’s tail for the rookie sack crown and R.O.Y.
3. Sean Lee DAL: This kid has been amazing as a rookie linebacker. Very bright future.
Coach of the Year
1.
Jim Harbaugh SF: I don’t think anyone can argue this as a forgone conclusion. Not at least until the Niners lose another game, because this coach has them believing they can’t be beat.
2. Jim Schwartz DET: Ironic that Harbaugh and Scwartz are the leading candidates, but the other Jim has done a spectacular job with his young Lions.
3. Chan Gailey BUF: Gailey has the upstart Bills atop the AFC East, now lets see if they can sustain.
Comback Player of the Year
1.
Alex Smith SF: What a great story Alex Smith is turning out to be. His solid consistent play limiting mistakes has turned around his career thus far. Harbaugh has transformed him, Alex is currently 8th in the league in QB Rating at 95.7 he’s tied with Big Ben. This man has come a long way.
2. Matt Hassleback TEN: Eveyone thought Matt was finished after the miserable year he had last year. But Matt has resurrcted with the Titans playing well for a 4-3 team. Now if only Chris Johnson can help out.
3. Steve Smith CAR: Last year was arguably the worst of his career in a miserable quarterback situation. Cam Newton to the rescue and now Steve leads the NFL in yards and YPC. On pace for career highs.
