New Dubstep Club at College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, Ill.

There is a new club at College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, Ill, The new club is called “Dubstep Club.” What is Dubstep, you may ask? Dubstep is a type of electronic dance music that originated in the United Kingdom, Dubstep contains mostly bass lines, drum patterns and occasionally vocals. There are a lot of musicians in this sub-genre of electronic dance music such as: Drop The Lime, Skream, Skrillex, Unicorn Kid, Vaccine, Liquid Stranger, Magnetic Man and ect. Dubstep bands play at festivals such as Spring Awakening in Chicago. Dubstep is an underground genre of music but it has been gaining in popularity over the years due to its popularity among young adults organizations and clubs involving Dubstep have been popping up.

Ozzie Ahmed, Neal Zeleznek and Greg Sebian-Magrow unofficially formed the Dubstep Club, making a place where Dubstep fans could go. In the club Ahmed is the president, Zeleznek is the vice President and Sebian-Magrow is a club officer. Missing an adviser is the only thing that stands in the club’s way to reaching the official club status at College of Dupage. According to Ahmed the goal of the club is to bring people with a common interest together. They also made a Facebook group by the name of Sound Share, here students can share photos, videos, playlists and events. Electronic Dance music events and discussions will be shared every meeting. Zelezneck is also a member of Strategic Finacial Society he says that the two clubs are interested in promoting each other. What the Dubstep club members are hoping for is that someday they will be able to host a local concert. Ahmed claims that the band Daft Punk is the one band that started the Dubstep revolution here in America.

When you walk into any building at College of Dupage you will hear the entrancing sounds of Dubstep filling the halls from student’s laptops.
