My Favorite Movie of 2011 the Green Hornet

Besides being a total sucker for superhero movies the Green Hornet was actually a good movie, so good it is my favorite of all the movies I have seen so far seen this year (2011) which were a lot.

Britt Reid played successful by Canada’s Seth Rogen was the 28 year old irresponsible party hard son of the Los Angeles newspaper The Daily Sentinel. His father James is killed by someone who strategically planned to cause him to have an allergic reaction to a bee sting. You actually do not find this out until later in the movie, and let’s just say you will be surprised who the killer is. After his father’s funeral Britt fires his father staff, but accidentally forms a friendship with the maid Kato played successfully by Jay Chou, he re-hires him, after they both agree they hated James Britt’s father. Kato later becomes the sidekick, which is great for Britt because of Kato’s mechanics and skilled martial art moves which came in handy throughout the movie.

It took some convincing but Britt finally gets Kato they should become crime-fighters, but here is the catch they actually pose as criminals at in attempt to “trip” real criminals. Throughout the movie Kato creates many awesome gadgets and weapons including a car named the black beauty which he equips with others gadgets and weapons. Later Britt plans to capture a Russian mobster Benjamin Chudnofsky played by Christopher Waltz, he was also great in the movie very bold and careless.

There comes a time in the movie where Britt (Seth Rogen) hires an assistant and researcher by the name of Lenore Case played by Cameron Diaz. Lenore has a degree in journalism and she minored in criminology. It is very interesting how they made Lenore useful in the movie’s plot. Later in the movie there becomes a love triangle between Britt, Kato, and Lenore.

Long story shorten Britt arrogance causes him and Kato to go their separate ways. Britt believes he can catch the mobsters on his own, but he actually finds out who killed his father. A huge action scene brakes out, and Kato arrives unsuspected by Britt and helps to save him. However, this scene carry’s over leading into another super action scene at the newspaper company. You will have to watch the movie to find out why everyone ends up there.

The Green Hornet completely bypassed other movies I have seen this year and I have seen a lot, it was brilliant, well executed, funny, full of action, overall good acting and writing, and everything else I ask for in a superhero movie. It will surely make a great holiday movie, and it is wholesome and something the family can watch together. Whether you order it from Netflix or rent it from the movie store, plan to see The Green Hornet. I hope they make a sequel!
